The only reason that was even a possibility in P1 was because of the massive brain-damage Mercer received thanks to being dead for so long. Heller's not dead, so it couldn't take over. Captain Cross from P1, Garcia, and McKlusky prove that being infected 'perfectly' doesn't happen.

The motives for Mercer turning Heller still aren't clear, it's claimed that he did it so they could both break out into the world, but that's highly doubtful. It'll all come to light when we buy the game, but from here your guess is as good as anybody else's
Umm...Sorta. Carnival 2 was what destroyed most of Hope, Idaho. But when Greene became infected, it mutated inside of her body and created Redlight. So it was Carnival 2 first, then Redlight that ravaged Hope, Idaho. Then years later, Mercer created Blacklight from a Redlight sample.
Its possible that Alex Mercer may have been taken over by Greene eating the leader of a hivemind could have some unforeseen consequences. Or Dana may no longer be Dana anymore when Greene infected her its possible greene may have put a bit of herself in Dana as a precaution so in the event she is defeated she has another body to continue going on.
You should just never assume Alex Mercer is dead, make sure because if there is even a slight possibility he is alive, then that mother fucker is ALIVE!!! Count on it.

@gargoyle07 Well, I've noticed in interviews and such that the developers use wording that conveys that Heller will eventually realize that Mercer isn't to blame, such as "Heller believes that Mercer is responsible."
Also, Heller thinks that Alex controls the infected, which he doesn't, and not to mention that Alex saved Heller's life by infecting him.
I don't think the story is just going to be a simple revenge plot. It might start that way, but it will evolve into something else.

GenTek is the Company that was hired to make a virus that could be used in chemical warfare for the us government and they accidentally made the Blacklight virus. The blacklight virus is the virus that gives mercer his superhuman abilities and when it got mutated, it turned the entire population of new york into some wierd zombie like creatures.

Its possible that Alex Mercer may have been taken over by Greene eating the leader of a hivemind could have some unforeseen consequences. Or Dana may no longer be Dana anymore when Greene infected her its possible greene may have put a bit of herself in Dana as a precaution so in the event she is defeated she has another body to continue going on.

@Kagimbrius Obviously, I had so much love for Prototype. It was kind of disappointing in some aspects, and it felt like Hulk Ultimate Destruction but with a different character. But even the haters gain some curiosity in a game after spending so much time putting it down. I just hope the haters don't get proved right.

@gargoyle07 Well, I've noticed in interviews and such that the developers use wording that conveys that Heller will eventually realize that Mercer isn't to blame, such as "Heller believes that Mercer is responsible."
Also, Heller thinks that Alex controls the infected, which he doesn't, and not to mention that Alex saved Heller's life by infecting him.
I don't think the story is just going to be a simple revenge plot. It might start that way, but it will evolve into something else.

Reasonably, the only way I can imagine Mercer dying and staying dead is if Heller consumes him, because he can regenerate from anything. I mean, shit, he consumed a crow and was good as new.

@1aMattes BlackWatch is a branch of the U.S military that deals with containing and destroying deadly viruses. GenTek is the Company that was hired to make a virus that could be used in chemical warfare for the us government and they accidentally made the Blacklight virus. The blacklight virus is the virus that gives mercer his superhuman abilities and when it got mutated, it turned the entire population of new york into some wierd zombie like creatures.

@MrErizid Wasn't Carnival 2 just the name of the project which caused the creation of Hope, Idaho? And Blacklight was engineered by Alex just before the first game began. It was Redlight that was used on the chimps in Carnival 1 and then people in Carnival 2.
