it's a USB port but it isn't USB.

it's simply the 4pins that connect the PSP toggle. ^^

and then he's wired it to a USB port to plug the PS2 joystick into it and use it as an alternative to the toggle.

I've got my PSP apart at the moment so I noticed this. :) Seems reasonably easy.

Ghetto is the equivalent of keeping it real. You know, attaching a usb outlet by shiving up the side of your psp with an xacto knife or jeweler's saw then soldering up some contacts homestyle.
