How many Canadians understand that the Taliban halted the production of Opium, but under western occupation is now the worlds leader in opium production. Apathy is a sign that you support the injustices of war. Use your voice, because if you don't, people will use it for you, and not in a way you intend or wish to be heard.
I worked with a 18 year old Afghan refugee. Her perspective is that of gratitude because of all the occupying countries Canada has done more for Afghanistan than the previous countries. However we have to ensure that Canadian INTERESTS in foreign policy is our driving force, not those of NATO or the UN.
Instead of importing soldiers, we should import infrastructure and design. Beginning with CLEAN water and working from there up. Also Canadians need to inform themselves about Afghanistan.
