Some never drop it, good for them. But most people will drop a bike, could be sitting still and lose balance, forgot to put the stand up, or just riding and lost your control....It's going to happen to you, or you will see it happen to someone.
Unless your riding like a three wheeled bike...I'd pay to see someone drop that. LOL
i did it twice in one day?? first pushing my bike out to wash it... then 2nd time of the day going out for a ride i drop it sitting on my driveway... NOW EXTRA CAUTIOUS! and saving for frame sliders lolol i wonder whats next o_o
I did that not so long ago with my 500, but not as abrupt as that. I lost my footing when parking and the bike landed on me so no damage done to the bike and I was fine as well.
I mean it almost happened to me yesterday when I had a 200 pound passenger and I stopped too fast at the stop sign but even with that person behind me I was able to save the drop !
wow.. my first time on a gixxer i never once dropped it.. didnt even know hot to change gears right.. but day2.. i was riding like a pro.. illegaly of course lol
I bet you've put a lot of milage on that bike and have probably moved to a bigger bike since this video was shot :) I'd take a 0 mph drop any day over a real speed traffic situation on a busy street.
why does everyone say that liter bikes are a bad way to go for beginners. I mean seriously why waste your time and money on a 250, your gonna out grow in a week or two. Sure the 250 is cheaper if you drop it but lets face it your gonna want a bigger bike eventually if you plan on doing any real riding so save your self the money from having to up grade and get the bike you want. Most of the new big bikes have a variable throttle that allows you to tone down the power for beginners anyway.
@krs171990 i have had my 250 for a year now and have already put 8000 miles on it. i have not out grown it yet. I have friends who have moved on to bigger bikes but they don't think they have "out grown" their smaller bike. It will take years to master the skills to out grow even a 250. sure you get bored with the bike and will want a bigger bike. Anyways I am glad i did not get a bigger sport bike. I have had a few close calls and on a bigger sport bike they would have killed me.
@krs171990 You give a noob a liter bike and he wont live to see the next day, let alone worry about the decision he made to get the 1000cc over the 250cc. The 250R is a great bike, alot of people just enjoy to ride, great commuter bike.
@The870Express okay i agree but really and truthfully it comes down to self control , the bike will only be as dangerous as the rider makes it... that being said , i own a 05 R1 as my first bike and absolutely love it , i mean of course i go fast here and there but there is a time and place for everything *NO COPS AROUND* LOL but i agree it really comes down to the fact of how comfortable that person feels with their ability to ride .. ride safe dude :)
He tapped the front brake a tad too hard causing it to jerk forward when his wheels aren't pointing straight. thats why he lost his balance. happened to me once.
@arsenedevos Keep riding, it's bound to happen. Don't say it won't, cause a bike is naturally unstable. Keep the wheels on the ground friend. Ride Safe.
honestly it's not a dumb mistake. The only reason you can keep it up is because its balanced but realistically the bike can weigh up too 800 pounds and once you loose that balance your done
I dropped my bike once, because I pulled up into my driveway and a buddy was there waiting and came up and started talking to me, I had forgotten that I hadn't put my kick stand down. stepped away and dropped it. never did that again , don't distract people when they pull up to there destination
Here's the problem (since no one else is helping): When you're going very slow, don't use the front brake. The front wheel will turn and the bike will plop down just like this video shows.
I've come close to doing that, thinking that my kickstand was down all the way, but when it hit the ground (the kickstand) it retracted back up and I had to catch my bike (which is also a Ninja 250). I've done that a couple times. Thankfully I've been able to hold the bike up and it's never actually hit the ground but dang it's come close.
I have the same bike. : ) I did worst on my first drop. I was rolling it into my parking lot, huge smile on my face, when suddenly I felt all 300 pounds of it and down she went.
What made you drop it? It looked like you either lost balance or a shoelace got caught? I dropped my 250r about a week after getting it. I was going a bit quicker than you were though at about 25mph. I wish I was wearing boots, otherwise I wouldn't have had to get stitches in my ankle. Definitely wear FULL gear when riding, especially when a new rider. My fall taught me a lesson, that's for sure. I was wearing all the gear needed except for boots.
Haha iv done that on my yzf r125 at a petrol station after filling it up! Got on it to fast and went ass over tit!! Lol plus it was packed being a tesco one!! Lol
You giving someone shit for starting out with a bike that won't exceed most novice's abilities and allow them to hone their skills before upgrading? The gixxer may be a badass bike but in the hands of a newbie it can kill. Only a douchebag with an inferiority complex would feel the need for a 750 as a starter bike (and the need to mention it on youtube). Sounds like someone got picked last for kickball and had a hard time getting laid in highschool.
@rmcclane01 100% agreed. Matter of fact I wish USA would go to tiered licensing system like the UK and Australia... not because I care if waxbrain dudes like Justin down there want to poser themselves to death on brand new Gixxers that will never see a turn or track, but because it will artificially create a market for 250 and 400 supersports in this country. But the American mindset of ENGINE ENGINE ENGINE won't allow for it.
@rmcclane01 I agree i started with the same bike i never dropped it but i know of a few times if i had start with a 600 or more id be messed up right now.
@rmcclane01 A 750 was my first starter bike, So really only a douche would buy a 250 and crash it. If you can't ride a 250 you shouldn't even own a bike. Rookie
@deodity88 Wait...so your argument is that since you owned a 750 as a starter bike, people who feel the need to get high displacement starter bikes are not douches? The logic there is way over my head, sorry. And give the guy a damn break; tipping a bike doesn't mean someone should never ride one.
I did something like that... but it was on a steep driveway and I was grabbing a fist full of front brake while the wheel was turned near full lock :P
