Thanks for the comment shadowfansydney. This home is actually located in Denver, Colorado in the city. The woman who owns this property (Sundari), is a sustainability advocate in Denver, and has gone through the process of getting city approvals for what she is doing. She is an incredible advocate with a passion for change. Keep and eye out for her book in July titled "The Idiots Guide to Urban Homesteading". Make sure you chat with your municipality about what you can, and cannot do. -Rodman
ok, I don't get how they can have all of that there, I am wondering exactly how far this family lives from an the actual city because as far as I knew, most american cities won't allow you to have "livestock" in a residental area, you have to be zoned for stuff like that, I wish I could do it myself.
@shadowfangsydney: Rabbits (best for meat, no noise and pretty clean and compact) and Hens (no noise) for eggs. Garden? Anywhere where grass is :) The value of knowing where and how your food was treated/produced? Priceless.
Actually what you show in UC is quite similar to what we do here, down in Brazil... if you want, look at my pictures in Facebook I'll stay following you... great show, great idea
So producing your own food is stupid. shows just how out of touch some people are. linghun can go buy the pesticide laced produce at the store which has been trucked in over 1,200 miles on average. maybe some idiots like paying higher prices for crap in the store, a lot of which has been gene altered and is destroying genetic diversity. Let's see how stupid this is when the system breaks down further and food gets even more expensive. Growing your own food is a life skill.
This is the stupidest thing Ive ever seen in my life. Yeh let's all "urban farm" so that our descendants may regress to a Taliban-esque ignorance and so we can fall back in the Mathusian trap. Do you want guarantee healthy human survival? Study nuclear physics, engineering, science. Fight for humanity to INCREASE its energy consumption, so that more science and more solutions are found for a brighter future.
