  • nice but yet, not a real type-r, the badge on the hatch was a dead give away as well as the lack of red recaro seats that came factory as well as the red door panels, carpet, and floor mats, the gauge cluster and instrumental panel cover are also different.

  • obviously. it's left hand drive. but it has a b16b motor/trans and it's a 99 civic hatch. that's basically a type r. if you were to track it, you'd strip the interior anyways. i personally give more credit to people that convert their usdm civic dx's into type r's, don't you?

  • @EastLosCA no, there is no type-r in the states. only acura integra type-r which is the USDM version. there is no civic type-r. you can replicate it, which is what people do, and swap a whole front clip so 1 of your vin numbers say "EK9" when the rest say otherwise.

  • i used RM coilovers / shock combo from japan. it was only like 300 bucks from this performance shopped that closed here in new york. i lowered it about 2.5 - 3 inches all around. it rides really well and you feel like you can take turns a lot quicker with the lower center of gravity.

  • Absolutely, it gives it away looking at the front strut bar as well as the seats. The positioning and colour of the strut is not that of the EK9 B16B JDM. The rear badge looks a bit dodge too, but other than that, it looks exactly like one.

  • Nice civic, but ek9 does not refer to all civics of this age/shape. EK refers to these but the EK9 is the Jap import. B16B engine, seam-welded chassis, Recaro's, there are many differences.

B16B engine. front lip. their own gauge cluster. right hand drive. the hatchbacks from 96-00 that are USDM are EJ models

NOT any 96-00 is EK at all. just JDM or a few other countries over seas. in the US its EJ. all the hatchbacks are EJ in the U.S. yours is probably an EJ6. my 00 coupe is an EJ8. the DX is EJ7. if you noticed the other page with my comment. youd see i knew that.

  • if it is an EK9 then the chassis should be seem welded alround. i think you should be able to tell by lookin at front panel were on normal civics there spot welded to the chassis legs but on the type R theyr suposed ot be seem welded for extra strength. so iv been told. it may have the motor but wont handle like the real thing sorry. nice civic tho

  • ek9 stands for the shape of the chasis. 96-00 civic hatchbacks are all ek9's, independent of what type of motor they have. other chasis codes would be em1, eg6, ef9. do some research.

    TYPE R has b16b 185hp, but regardless its a very nice civic an will still shift.

  • i don't know how you could see the engine code from this youtube video. this car has a b16b motor. i had to extend the wiring harness 3 feet by hand to fit it into a left hand drive.
