@tuikahui149 never admit to it but if you don't have a edge (cheating for instance) you will not get far. I recently was in the bb action folded 2 sb I sat back in my chair and noticed that sb had kj off i called the flop blind, flop came k 2 3 rainbow now I know he has top pair and he knows I'm blind he bets 3bbs I call turn comes 4. At this point sb is in very good shape bets pot I look down at A5 lmfao and flat. the river is a 6 and I know i have the nutts but sb thinks
@TuzTuz14 he has the nutts so i shakily put all my chips in and sb laughs and calls then gets some very bad news. some may say that I'm a dirty cheat and whatever a pro will tell you to protect your hand he did not I did by not looking. Not my best play ever but in my top 10 for sure. Tuz Tuz is AA in russian btw ; )

@haroonKS But I guess with your long 22 years of life on this Earth, you have a clue about everything. Take it easy, kid, it's just an opinion. Today's field is much tougher, shotguns or not.
@tourlouOWNyou yeah! he only made the game popular in the first place... won 2 consecutive world titles... 10 bracelets... won millions of dollars and he beat cancer, and is considered a god to any true poker player. behave yourself
@ holduponetime I believe he is still a pro. Yeah its true that he got lucky with 10 2. he always was considered to be lucky, but this is because of his style of playing. if u read his book, u might know that he always said that in big pots, on all in pots, he always had the worst hand. but he was freerolling that on because he had enough chips to do that because of his style of playing. and poker isn't about wining one hand. its about winning long run, and he is making it perfectly.
@matyinger well i guess you cant read. I said he can play, but he is overrated. There is a big difference in what I said, and what the rest of these know it all broke rail birds say.
@HoldUpOneTime i can read, thats why i wrote that comment. u said he is overrated, im saying that he isnt, he is reasonably considered to be the best.
@HoldUpOneTime Oh and one more thing before someone mentions it, he did not write super system by himself. He had help on the first one, and the second one was basically every pro from the poker community helping him.
I think that being good back then is different from being good today. Today new pros are breaking the mold and creating new styles of playing. I still think he's very good, but he became rich and famous during an easy era, when not so many people knew how to play poker. Today we can meet good players even at our home games. The field is much tougher and more unpredictable these days.
@ViewOnPoker To say it was an "easy era" is unfair. You can argue how small the field was, but at a time when poker was not a respectable profession, where there were no books to read, or site to learn from and when you couldnt play online, it was remarkable for Doyle to make $1m. It's not like Doyle gets outplayed these days, he holds his own at high stakes games and did very well in this years WSOPE
@happyhammer93 main event 1966 - 22 runners, main event 1967 - 34 runners, main event 2009 - 6,494 runners, therefore its fair to say it was an easier era. I would fancy my chances against 21 of the best pro's over 6500 donks anyday.
The field may be tougher now, and he may have sucked out with his 10-2 but he still got 8 (!!) other bracelets, u cant call him just a gambler. Plus if u see him for example on High Stakes Poker, he still has good reads, and knows most of time where he is at with his cards.
if you told doyle brunson the era he played in primarily was an ' easy ' era he would tell you that he personally witnessed 5 people die, it was hard for him to find big games sometime, this wasnt an easy era at all
Yes, but now we can learn from different strategies and videos, which have been created-deusescracked, pokerstratey, etc, etc.Back then(Doyle's time) there was no such a things. He is the first person, that realised how to play NLHE, and his book revolutionised poker. Some things in his book are still basics and are true till today.
@ViewOnPoker Yea Doyle is not good as todays players,he had 18 televised cash games wins in a row, playing durrr ivey antonius and many others,if you play cash games thats alot even online plays every day at highest cash games and wins,
@ViewOnPoker Yea Doyle is not good as todays players,he had 18 televised cash games wins in a row, playing durrr ivey antonius and many others,if you play cash games thats alot even online, plays every day at highest cash games and wins,
@ViewOnPoker He is the one of few who made poker what it is today. You see it as easy era. I see it as thoughest and will never ever be that tough to succed in poker as it was back then. Think about reasons why.
@HoldUpOneTime I use to think like you man but after i read SUPER SYSTEM I realize all the things that happen inside doyle's head all the strategy and stuff, also this man is one of the most important persons that bring texas holdém to the USA
no i agree to a point... its just .. hes legendary .. everyone REALISTICLY knows hes not the best player in the game anymore.. not even close.. hes just a TRUE gambler with character... he WAS one of the best in his day tho .. and he can play ALL the games... very well... well rounded.. but hes not THEE best .. hes just a legend
@HoldUpOneTime I believe he is still a pro.

@HoldUpOneTime Why is it on any video showing a pro poker player there is some susie QQer talking about how they really aren't that good. They really just made a name for themselves by being lucky. And the rest of us get to read it and think how completely retarded that person is...
@fatsomamacheese well i guess you cant read. I said he can play, but he is overrated. There is a big difference in what I said, and what the rest of these know it all broke rail birds say.
@AlexJKirby i did not say he sucked, i just said he is overrated. c'mon, is doyle even top 5 anymore?
We know that 1,2,3 is Ivey & Dwan/Antonius and i dont think he is 4 or 5. he is a great great player, but he does not have the skill of a god like people make him out to be. the game has changed
@HoldUpOneTime Why does being a gambler makes him overrated; why does sucking out to win gives less to his victories. We love Doyle not because he plays the best odds, and his game so solid and all, we love him because of his Karma, and his achievements are written in the stone. You have the facts right, you're not saying bullshit that's for sure; but overrated, no he's not, he's a living legend!
@HoldUpOneTime you have some valid points but all in all i disagree. Doyle is not the strongest player in the world, im not even sure there was a time he ever was. but he was the first to articulate winning poker and that makes him a legend. furthermore doyle played his whole life and made a living out of poker. this makes him a professional - a pro.
@HoldUpOneTime it doesnt sound like youve had much experience. you absolutely CANNOT win these WSOP bracelet events, with such big fields, without sucking out. although skill trumps luck in poker, you cannot deny the importance of a little but of luck. and yes, even phil ivey, hellmuth, daniel negreanu, and johnny chan have sucked out on their way to victory.
Minh Ly only got to playing tourneys after Doyle convinced him too...
