Japanese Godzilla is better. Also I'm talking about the 1980's to early 90's Godzilla. Not Godzilla 2000, or the original one. Godzilla in that time had the best look to it hands down.

@jjrudki I can't wait for the remake to come out. The concept design is supposed to be like the early 90's Godzilla, but of course it won't move in slow motion. It will be more agile like Zilla.
@TheJASM4collection I kind of hope he isn't too agile though. The lumbering movement adds a lot of weight to him. I just want more "Realistic" movement. Some argue the old rubber suit is the most realistic way to show Godzilla, and technically it is, but the suit cannot recreate muscle tension among other things. I really hope they nail this remake, they NEED to show the design to see fan reactions really. I don't think anyone disliked Zilla from a design perspective, just he was really weak.

The ones with kiryu made sense along with 1985 and gmk but that's it. the rest of them didn't have any connection to the first film. they just stated that it was a direct sequel to it. That element probably was in it as a way to satisfy fans angry at the Rhedosaurus-like Godzilla in the film, but the series was extremely well-done and well-received by fans and critics alike. Toho is probably not ever going to use Zilla Jr. because they're okay with him, the only reason they brought the character in at all was to show how weak he was compared with the original and dissolve any confusion.

In it the Devil changed into different formations before reaching final. Those formations were a spider, a bird, fish and it's final as the Devil himself. That concept was used years later in Godzilla vs Destroyah.

I think the US design is actually better in that it looks more like a real creature would look (no dinosaur walked upright like that)-mix the two and we're gold! :P

The ORIGINAL Godzilla... there can be no substitute. So I have to agree with others comments that Godzilla 98 shouldn't have been called "Godzilla". Because it's so completely NOT Godzilla. @thebeyblademaniac in fact... the deaths are as such: destroyah kills junior. godzilla and the military kill destroyah. godzilla kills himself. then they show the radiation dropping and in the fog of the battlefield rises junior! fully revived and fully grown! but this is just mostly symbolism though. junior never takes his dad's place in any movies. and that particular godzilla storyline ended with godzilla's death. :)

I do admit that fakezilla does look cool and more realistic but look at the physics, Godzilla is slightly bigger than fakezilla making it weigh more than fakezilla and Godzilla has atomic breath making it more powerful than fakezilla when it comes to powerful abilities. Fakezilla is more flexible and lighter and more maneuverable than godzilla but fakezilla is weaker than godzilla so that makes more sence when it comes to Godzilla wining so overall there's a 97% chance of godzilla.

That element probably was in it as a way to satisfy fans angry at the Rhedosaurus-like Godzilla in the film, but the series was extremely well-done and well-received by fans and critics alike. Toho is probably not ever going to use Zilla Jr. because they're okay with him, the only reason they brought the character in at all was to show how weak he was compared with the original and dissolve any confusion.

Like with Space Godzilla, the Showa era is a time Paradox so this is the widely accepted explanation: The timelines are seperate. in one, Godzilla had been killed by the Hydrogen bomb, in the other the bomb was never created, and the other Showa Godzilla movies were made, thus those are Canon. Yet Mecha Godzilla is also canon (AKA the time paradox again)

Time paradoxes: Yes there is, even Space Godzillas existence is one. And there is no firther mention of the Mechagodzilla from GxMG, so it is led to believe that too is a time paradox.

A. That Toho announced after the American film made its Japan debut that it was NOT a part of the Godzilla series. In it the Devil changed into different formations before reaching final. Those formations were a spider, a bird, fish and it's final as the Devil himself. That concept was used years later in Godzilla vs Destroyah.

@TheSkullcrusher73 Perhaps, but I do like the Godzilla Jr from the animated series (the one that came out of the egg at the end of the 98 movie)- he is much, much tougher than the 98 American Godzilla, can regenerate, has nuclear breath beams, and proved that he can withstand far more firepower than what killed his parent. I think the US design is actually better in that it looks more like a real creature would look (no dinosaur walked upright like that)-mix the two and we're gold! :P

The ORIGINAL Godzilla... there can be no substitute. So I have to agree with others comments that Godzilla 98 shouldn't have been called "Godzilla". Because it's so completely NOT Godzilla. And why try and re-invent the franchise anyway ? I guess the movie execs/hollywood were just trying to capitalize on the name recognition,which is lame. I enjoyed the American one even though it wasn't "great", it was enjoyable. For monster flix, you just can't beat the old Japanese ones. Gojira rocks !
