Just love this one..... love the voice and the story.... look out of my memory window and what do I see....????? Lots of wonderful country music - a lifetimes worth..... and so many happy and sad memories.... yesterdays loves.... did not know how many folks are in my memory Pictures.... come and go and leave footprints on the heart.... songs, people, scenes...so many pictures to show to them all.... to recall. Thanks!!! Needed to hear this tonight in my head and my heart!!!
Can you believe it's been 30 years since this song graced the air waves? I fondly remember listening to this in the mornings as I got ready for school.
I remember this playing alot on my prized boom box in the early 80's, i'd just became a teen, and John was a favorite who was very popular on all Country stations. The music and times have changed so much. I miss those days and would give anything to re-live them again.
Haven't thought of this song for years....and it just popped into my head here. So good to hear it again...listened to it over and over when it first came out. Listening to it now, I feel very sentimental about all the changes through these past 20-odd years...John Conlee is an amazing talent...his music should be still heard on the present-day "country stations"...instead of some of the 'new' music they subject us to.
In hindsight, concerning my own Miss E.----I should have "thrown Miss Emily's clothes out into the trash and hocked Miss Emily's jewelry for some cash".
Always liked this song; kind of sad...regret. I was going to name my second child Emily, but since the baby was a boy I decided he would appreciate not being named Emily. My favorite song by John Conlee, thanks for posting. Got to represent the good, old coutry music !
I have always loved this song. I had the pleasure of seeing and hearing him sing it in Kirksville, MO back in 1994, I think. No one else can sing it the same with his distinctive voice.
@holladae82 This was my stepfather & my youngest brother's possible biological father tho' my brother won't have a paternity test done. Either way, he didn't realize it until after he'd picked his oldest daughter's name that her 1st name came from this song. It's our, well my step-dad's favorite song. Her name is Emily Gwen. Emily was from this song & Gwen is from a wonderful girl who lived nextdoor to me that he liked a lot. She moved back to Texas. He kept her alive in his heart n his daughter
@holladae82 cont'd: I should have said my former step-father. Mother married him twice & divorced him twice & even married that bastard of a wife & child beater of a DH she was w/when got preg w/me then left & fell for my step-dad but left him after Grams got ill & they'd lost a child together that wrecked her so bad she had a nervous breakdown. I forget what # her current husband is. We don't speak but maybe 1 to 2x a yr & my kids don't know her. My youngest believes my birth dad is dead.
@Ronniepride: The song is "Could You Love Me One More Time" which was released as a single in 1981 and it's baffling why it's not mentioned on the CD credits. When I bought the CD several years ago it caught me by surprise since it's not mentioned in the CD track list. I jokingly refer to it as a hidden track. That song and "Miss Emily's Picture" both come from his 1981 album, WITH LOVE...
this song has always been one of my favorite songs, but here recently its taken on a special meaning as I seem to be headed towards my very own Miss Emilee. she's quickly become one of my closest friends and has stolen my heart without even knowing it and today she enlisted in the Army. I am unspeakably proud of her and proud to know her. that being said, me? Im feeling pretty low right now.....
Ohhhhh how I LOVE this song! Reminds me of my younger honky tonk, hall dancin' cowgirl boots years.....Thanks so much for the memories!

It's not bad for a hillbilly song.
It's really one of the better hillbilly songs.
And there are only about two of them.

Wich is the song between this one and "Busted" on this CD? There is no title on it.
