Not a bad sweep, but it's always better to stand up! Also what are the odds your opponent will stand like that? he will probably be based out with one leg behind the other and farther spread, not neccisarily ineffective, just useful in a situation that doesn't commonly occur.
@irimanan27 I really didnt get what you meant. I think that was just a stupid commentary.. And you might slip of your bed and hit your head on the floor and die, everything is possible, that has nothing to do with this move.
Everyone thinks this sweep is ineffective until it is done to them....... you really need to be at a higher level where you understand the timing of each technique you do........ this sweep works for me
Marcelo Garcia does this at the highest level of grappling in ADCC, etc. This works from the beginning to the world championships. It just needs to be executed with speed and precision.
@JiuJitsuCosensMMA i totally agree with you...it will be much more quicker and effective and from there i would go for a knee bar but any ways yea your right =]
Pretty cool. I've done a variation where we trap their knees with our ankles, but you go down to their feet. Works better that way because of the fact that you're targeting an area farther away from their center of balance. Only problem is that if you get up and they're agile they can punch/grab your upper body/head. Our variation only uses the legs to take them off balance.
HEY GUYS.i made a new account and i decided to show people wat mma is all about. i am a boxer and a juijitsu white belt, im going to give people a chance to see me grow as a mixed martial artist. ill be bloging and posting my training sessions and tournements, come subscribe and watch me grow as a person, watch me grow as a mixed martial artist with Renzo Gracie and Gleasons boxing gym."
it for jiu jitsu. they should write that down. instead of writing fighting on there. now a days fighting means mma or on the street. grappling means on the mat.
10th planet voodoo shit seems to work well for some. nice to know its stuff, so you can defend against it. look what happened to royler.
another thing, i am only 5' 5" inches. i couldnt pull this move off. my partners legs are too long.
Nice Sweep Phil, your choice in posture to set it up is the same posture a student of yours (Sam Oropreza) taught me to help improve my guard posture. Works like a charm.

you would be punched in the face 10 times before you were able to even get close to doing that sweep.

basic and high percentage, no fancy 10th planet voodoo shit that doesn't work on bigger opponents. I like.

You cant kick a downed fighter in Unified Rules in MMA. You could punch him in the face here but that is harder to do than it looks.

I use this move often. Simple and effective. Doesn't leave you in a bad spot if you miss. Can't go wrong with it.
