The first time I ever saw Jack Black was before he was really popular. He did an acoustic set as Tenacious D on an SNL episode hosted by Matthew Broderick. And it was awesome. I don't mean I thought it was "funny"; I mean I was genuinely blown away by the musicianship. To the point where I kind of wish he would actually focus a bit more on the Tenacious D aspect to his career.

Haha! This was a golden moment in SNL opening monologue history! 5 stars! Jack Black has writtien stuff for his appearances on other shows. The Ellen bit which is on Youtube was funny.
