Im driving a A3 Sportback. Its now 10Years old. Last year i complained about rust stain ( no wonder, im living in the apls ) and they changed both frontdoors without any protest because you got 11 years warranty.

@6UNLEASHED No. It looks like the A7 but if you do a bit of research you'll see that the A7 is a VERY different car especially on the inside. The a7 is also way more expensive.

The A5 is the best strike Audi could have thrown at the Euro-Jap Coupe segment, i think they might take it a step further by introducing an A5 "sportback?" and the A7 (If anybody does a bit of research, the VW CC is sure to please even the hardest of critics) All and all, Audi is giving buyers a choice... maybe a confusing choice?

The same way the A6 is a bigger and more luxurious version of the A4. I don't see how the pasat cc fits into this, its in a lower class.

In fact, the A7 is practically a 4 door coupe version of the A8.

Just like Audi, Subaru and Mitsubishi have dominated the Rally scene. Honda has had a good run in the Touring Car Championships just like BMW and Mercedes. While I find the A5 Sportback unbelievable gorgeous, I don't see how it should render the A4 Avant obsolete. The luggage space in an estate car is just more accessible.

However, I can't really understand why someone would pay the extra money for the A6 saloon. I think, the A5 Sportback does work brilliantly as a business car.

1) It's Audi 's answer to BMW's new fangled and equally confused 5 Series GT . Luckily, the Audi looks way better.

2) The A5 Sport back is Audi's equivalent to the lesser VW Passat CC in the cheaper VW range.

3) The A5 Sport back is the best of most worlds and priced really well ; a sweet spot for the driver who cannot decide what he really wants.

Overall, just Audi's way of meeting the the explosion of saloon-coupes like the Mazda RX8/Merc CLS /Panamera /Rapide.

Actually it does have a purpose. My dad wanted a new car, and was looking at Audi. My mom didn't like the A4 because it was too... squarish and slightly bland looking. The A5 was great, but I (i'm 1.85 meters tall) couldn't fit in the back. Neither could my little brother. So, the A5 sportback does everything! I have plenty of leg and head room for long distances (the point of our purchase) and room in the back. And it looks stunning.

I saw an A5 Sportback yesterday at my local Audi garage. It was an Ibis White 2.0TFSI S-Line sporting 19" 5 Spoke Alloys. Looked Amazing!!!!!!!! Very low slung with lots more character than the Coupe.

i completely disagree, i own an A5 coupe 3.2 fsi and it's an UNREAL car, I just don't see the point of the sportback considering there is the A6 and A4. I just think that it ruins the whole point of the 5 class. It's supposed to be a sports car, not a saloon, the A4 and A6 were meant to be saloons, why can't they just leave it like that?

I was comming to the exact same conclusion. It's way to beaytiful not to be made.

I'm looking foreward to seeing on in the flesh. The A5 doesn't look special on pictures that i've seen, but looking at it irl, it's amazing. Can't wait to see if this has the same effect. To me it looks better than the A5 coupe on pivs, so what would it look like irl?:-)
