Well, I, for one, think he's got good manners. My budgie just jumps on us or in our plates to steal our food. He even tries to put his head in our mouths to go get it. He's a pest, but he's my pest

You should be careful about that, Liqua. Birds have sensitive digestive systems and stuff that's bad for us is especially bad for them (e.g. chips). And some things are actually dangerous for them, like salt.

There's plenty of people food that's good for them, too. You just have to find out which is which. ^^

Oh, also, milk is bad for birds, so the cereal is a no-go. Johnny's owner here knows best by not feeding him anything.

One time, my budgie, Chip, flew on a chandalier that he used to like, and usually his favourite toy would get him down, but it didn't so my sister showed him a bagel and he flew right to her. We call him pica bird because he'll eat just about anything we eat. His favourite food is chips (hence his name).

That is soo cute! My parakeets just hop down to eat their own food when they see us eating. Its so funny. My yellow paraket however, would never come near, it is terrified of shiny objects for some reason. Everytime I would put their food into their dish in the cage with a spoon, it would completely flip out and throw itself all over the place. I realized it was the spoon so now I have to take out the whole bowl just to change their food, otherwise the poor thing becomes terrified.

My first budgie-pair was even worse than that. I mean they would attack from the air, especially if I had food in my hands. They also had some trouble with the sparrows and the pidgeons outside, even if they were quite the snobs, lol.

In answer to kingofdatgame's question, you can buy a little "room" to attatch onto one of the budgies cage doors, simply fill it with water and let the budgie bath themselves.

Alternatively you could also fill a bowl of water and put it at the bottom of the cage, that will serve as a bath too.

Never try to bathe the budgie yourself, as they will find it stressful!

He does help me weed, making sure weeds are pulled up all the way and pointing out other ones I could pick, and is interested in supervising every moment of my life. It's a lot of responsibility, but he's up to it!

This is so strange, I guess I must've been lucky. My budgie Neelu wasn't the sharpest tool in the box and seemed to forget he was hungry until he saw us eating. Whenever he saw us sitting down to a meal, he'd rush back to his cage and scoff himself full of seed! He only came after our food if he saw cucumbers.

Ah yes, so familiar! Now here's how I managed to get peace at mealtimes when I had Hardy, my Cockatiel... give them their own plate!!! Works a treat! I used a little saucer and would put a little bit of what I was having, ie a chip, some rice or some pasta and in no time, he recognised it as HIS and would always go straight for it, leaving me alone! Unless he finished first of course...:/

I was expecting a much wilder behaviour from Johnny (i.e., flying into the bowl, plate or glass feet first without warning the way our budgie does...), but he's actually quite well behaved! Perhaps a little camera-shy as you mention. In any case, I've always felt that the cage is the best place for a budgie at mealtimes, and it avoids undesirable "begging" behaviours. Johnny is as sweet as ever, even in the morning!

Yes, when the camera's NOT recording it's impossible to eat there because he'll go crazy trying to land in the middle of the plate.

Another favourite move is to perch on the fork as you bring it up to your mouth.

I was actually quite pleased he restrained himself as it made it much easier to film.
