This one always makes me so emotional... in a good way though because I know Lelouch is alive.If you were paying attention during the series and the last episode you had to notice all those small hints that lelouch is well... from Oranges reactions, to the way they showed that carriage driver and C.C.s last words.And besides why do you think the last song of the anime and the soundtrack is called Continued Story :D

It also makes sense. Lelouch dying carries a deep emotional impact, nobody with a taste for writing would want to ruin that.

@SonarWavePulse I see, I checked and some sites also stated that the guidebook said Lelouch is dead, I guess that's confirmed. Tho, his death doesn't tie all the problems and actually leave a very big plot hole open, CC's wish. She wished to be loved and he said that he would make her smile, and his death would leave her wish unfulfilled, that means one big part of the story opened.

I'd still prefer to think he's alive.

Without Lelouch, that wouldn't happen. I think he indirectly fulfilled the contract.

Leaving Lelouch alive actually leaves him being kind of a jerkass, Suzaku cried for him, so did C.C.. His little sister is left without her reason to look into the future (even though she gets better) and the one who caused suffering and death for millions of people is alive?

His death cleared his name (for us)

@SonarWavePulse I doubt she would. Her real wish is to be loved, which is implied throughout the movie, especially after the first confrontation with Charles. Lelouch is the only person who knows about the wish, and the only one can fulfill it. His death can not fulfill it, because the only way to love an immortal is to be immortal yourself. Lelouch also said that if CC is a witch the will be the warlock to match with her.

@SonarWavePulse Besides, his atonement for all the sins he did, IMO, is to live eternally without his sister, the person he holds dear most. That would also explains the crane on the cart, because it can not be C.C's possession. His sister and Suzaku cried because they will have a future without Lelouch. And Nunnally has her reason to live toward future, Lelouch realized that that's why he casted his geass on her, because he understands her ideas and all.

@rYeLkUn very true. The thing is though, are they really anti-hero? Light and Lelouch both planned for the world to be a better place, as any hero would, but they went about it in an evil way, kinda. Light was a bit on the crazy side though, claiming to be the 'god' of the new world. but the one thing these anti-hero mangas and anime have in common is that the main character dies in the end, making it the most epic ending, like in Death Note and in Code Geass.
