  • i dont

  • Last post...promise! BTW .... thank goodness I follow you on Twitter! You are the only way I found out about the earthquake that hit here....I got your twitter post...all other forms of communication were down and I work in downtown Richmond, VA...about 30 miles from the epicenter...not sure if I ever told you that...so thanks again! :)

  • I like this new news idea!! Keep it up! I used the old awesome how alka. I really don't like their redesign and I gave up on them.

  • Also...a good possible topic...our local mall (and probably thousands of other ones) were tracking people ...what stores they went into, etc...by customers cell phones. Our news said the only way to stop them from tracking you was to turn off the cell phone. They now say they have stopped it...but who knows for how long....thoughts?

  • @maddiepost1 Yeah I saw that news story too right before black friday. I'm not sure if its something they always do but they were for that day for sure.

  • Interesting... I don't use any of those... no time.

  • @TammyFlores1 it really doesn't take much time to check in with foursquare, though usually if I'm out with others I forget.

  • Jason...thanks so much for doing this! I'm such a "noob" on this stuff and it is good to hear an intelligent perspective! :) I went through a phase of using four square and facebook check in...but I don't much anymore...because you never know what crazy is watching where you are and can either stalk somebody or rob them while they know you are gone! Thanks for the mention and I hope you feel better soon! :)

  • I truly believe that in today's world that 4 square types of apps are a dangerous thing, especially for women. There are coordinates on cell phones that can be traced, and even without the 'finders' apps it's all too much of an exposure for probably anyone to get themselves into trouble. Flashy social media is fun, but not everyone is a decent kind of person, and it can be used to harm the innocent. Those are my thoughts on it.

  • @notellyearight1 You just have to know how to use the privacy settings. I don't make my checkins public and I really don't add many people as friends, only those I know IRL that I really want on here. I mostly just use it as a history for myself.

  • @Urgo6667 Ahhhh well that makes sense. When I did my setup on the new 4 square on Facebook I did see those settings. I opted out. That's an interesting thing using it as a history :) I can see where it could be a total blast if a person is on the GO all the time and out and around, etc. Anyone that is a party person would never be lonely! HA! :)

  • I use yelp

  • @mikedelgado8888 I use yelp when I'm traveling and I want to find a good place to eat, but thats about it. I don't check in with it.

  • I using Facebook like communicator, just sending messages and that's all !! :)

  • @LucasFTWfilms Don't lie, you like stalking people there too ;)

  • @Urgo6667 Ha ha ha , good answer, but really I don't like Facebook !!! :)

  • Oh, and by the way, I used to use FB's check-in feature, but now that I have foursquare, I use that a lot more. I use Foursquare, just for fun.

  • @ssurjap yeah I checked in to one or two places on there.. same with google's places.. but foursquare is my fav

  • What I thought was interesting was I heard that Facebook wanted to discontinue its check-in feature.

  • @ssurjap Odd way of showing it when they buy a checkin company :)
