Cruise got the Golden Globe for this; it’s just a crying shame he had to come up against Daniel Day Lewis and lose out on the Oscar. His performance in this film is nothing short of exceptional.

Pair it up with his outstanding turn in Rain Man (Hoffman should’ve shared the Oscar with him) and I’m willing to forgive him for being a bit Looney Tunes.

A brilliant soundtrack for a brilliant film. First it was Jaws, then Star Wars, then Indiana Jones, then ET, now this. John Williams never seems to run out of steam. Amazing.

IMO, the score really captured the patriotic spirit of Kovic, what his hometown and country meant to him.
