It's awesome for gaming, mapping all the main movement and combats on the PS3 controls while mapping standard things like Inventory or Skills on the PS3 Keypad.
Surfing the net is more relaxing, hooked up the TV to PC, and just surf from a nice distance.
P.S.: I still need to figure out how to get both devices wireless when gaming... since MotionJoy eats up the BlueTooth for just the controller...
Do I have the cord in all the time or can I take it out when I play and write and so, so I do not need the USB cable into all the time, you can take it out huh?
thank you, realy help mi this. this controler is small whit all function to control laptop from distance when I am looking on TV. Use on PS3 is obvius. thanks. and if you want play more games on ps3 try a look on ps3gamer.cz
"Windows cannot find any Bluetooth devices. Make sure that your Bluetooth adapter is attached to your computer and is turned on, and that your Bluetooth device is turned on."
my question is this.... does it says that i have to use a bluetooth adapter ? im confused so the bluetooth device application that comes with my laptop is not a bluetooth adapter ? or is my laptop broken ? lol
hi i watched you video n it looks very interesting for me but i had a problem while trying to do it.. this is what i did... start>control panel> hardwork and sound>set up abluetooth enabled device ..from BLUETOOTH DEVICES. ( i have laptop windows vista home premium hp pavilion ) from there i clicked on ADD and the "add bluetooth device wizard" window poped ... i check marked the "my device is set up and ready to be found" and pressed NEXT.. then a window pops n has this message
Thank you, very useful. I have a portable computer connected to a TV in my living room, I control it for the moment with a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard on the living room table, not very comfortable. A small keyboard like this may be easier to use from my couch, I will try.
lol i use this and a ps3 controller to play battlezone 1. i can have all the movement controlls and comand controlls in my hand all the time. before i sacrificed some of the movement controls for comand controls on the controller itself
There are plenty of good reasons to know how to do this. I hook my laptop up to my LED tv to play games and watch videos. Having a small wireless keyboard in conjunction with my wireless ps3 controller allows me to do everything from the couch with no wires across the floor. Great video.
Hmm, I'm using motioninjoy to use a ps3 controller on my htpc. Was thinking it might be nice to have the chatpad working when final fantasy xiv comes out.
@GearTutorials It's slightly more complicated for Windows XP but it does work. FIrst you have to plug the keypad in via USB so that Windows can download a driver for it. After that, you can unplug it. Secondly, pairing will not work by using the bluetooth system tray icon. You have to pair it using the bluetooth utility in Control Panel, at least that's what I had to do with my particular laptop.
thanks, I will try an ASUS brand one. I'll use the Logitech as my dedicated one for my Dualshock 3. Again, thanks. There is very little documentation on getting the keypad to work via bluetooth. I have a PC hooked up to my TV in my living room and the controller + keypad will make an awesome multimedia input device!
so if my bluetooth dongle is installed with driver for ps3 controller wirelessly, does it mean i can't use that same dongle to pair it up with the keypad also?
how did you get the number for the pairing. I have read in forums were people couldn't get past that part to use on pc. The reason why people want to know how to do this is for media center style setups and online games.
The PC should display a random number on the screen, and you would have to type that in on the keyboard and press Enter on the keyboard to finish pairing.
Hmm. It paired with my PC, but mine is defective and the mouse part is all over the place. The keyboard part works fine.
Most phones do not support Bluetooth HID devices, but some to. I think you have a better chance with a phone based on Windows Mobile. I also have a folding portable Bluetooth keyboard that works with some phones and PDAs, but also works fine with PS3 and PC.
Looks like the PSP Go has Bluetooth support, but I don't know what profiles it supports. The official page I looked at only mentions using BT so you can use Skype with a headset, which is a waste.
They had better make sure it supports at least support A2DP profile so you can listen to high-quality music with stereo BT headphones. If it supports HID keyboard profile, you can use a keyboard with it. If it's not currently supported, it might be added with a future update.
As tempted as I am by psp go, cause its a very new design compared to the older models I expect it will have some teething problems that aren't able to be solved my software updates.
For example, I've heard it uses a type of wireless that is very slow.
Sony seems to release a new psp once a year, so next September/October wouldn't be too long to wait. Just depends if they go for an undated 3000 or updated GO. As the Go isn't designed to replace the 3000...
I figured that out after exchanging it. I was very careful unpacking the first one, but there was no documentation. The instructions were supposed to be between the paper parts of the package.
Cause this, paired with the PS3 controller would be great for a media centre PC.

One reason to use the keypad is that this is significantly cheaper than a logitech dinovo mini.

This didn't work for me on windows xp. Works fine on windows 7 though, very useful if I want to be sat in bed but still using the pc.
One problem though, if the keypad goes on standby or if I turn it off, it unpairs with the computer, this can be quite annoying.
Any idea how to keep the two paired?

No, you need a dongle dedicated to the controller. You'll need another for the keypad.
mcapehartjr 2 years ago
But the one for the keypad can be used for other bluetooth devices... Just not the one for the controller because you have to use FreeBT drivers.

so 2 dongles, ok

Yes, you just need to plug it into the ps3 via usb to repair it with the console.

shame you can't pair it with mobile phones... I tried... you can pair, but nothing more. cause I hate texting

Any mobile phone that supports standard Bluetooth HID input devices will support this just fine.

Tried it with my phone, it pairs, but you can't do anything once its paired.
