What is wrong with Lila? Notice she is in a ward, not a risk to or from others. Her chart at :31 and 1:50 shows her on a wild health improvement. An oxygen tank at 1:39. She is able to climb in and out of bed and reach up high to mail the letter. Also after her release later she moves normally. Can't be surgery or she'd be more immobile. My guess would be asthma attacks...

I saw this movie in the 70s when I was 10. This is in the top 5 of my favorite Peanut movies/shows. Charles Shultz had a way with how he used facial expressions on his characters to tear our heartstrings. A lonely child in a hospital wishing for the return of a dog she once owned. But when Snoopy went to her apartment and I saw that Lila had her cat with her, I didn't feel so bad anymore. It was Charlie Brown who got screwed. Lila and Charlie, 2 lonely peoplewould have made a good couple.

I think one of the reasons that this is song pulls on our heart strings is that there are few things are more sad than a little girl in a hospital bed. And what makes it more heartbreaking is that she is ALONE in this scene, no other patients, doctors, nurses, visitors; there aren't even any cars on the road outside. It's like she's then only person in the whole hospital! And she's such a sweet girl, she's the only person I could deal with being Snoopy's owner besides Charlie Brown.

I own this movie on DVD and I love it. This movie reminds me of the 62 days I spent in hopistal whie in primary school (1975-1982). In all, I missed 305 days of primary school. In this time, there was no education programs or other services (ie clowns, etc) to liven up a hopistal day. So you'd just stare out of a window or at the ceiling 16 hours a day. This does get really annoying and depressing really fast.

Even though Shelby didn't get to do more work for movies like this, the few that she did are always memorable. This number always reminds me of "The Journey" from The Rescuers, as it has that lulling emotional feel to it. Mesmorizing.

Perhaps not the catchiest tune ever, but given the scenario, I'm kind of glad it isn't. We wouldn't want to be depressed forever now, would we?
