Always take your opponent seriously until the fat lady sings, or you will lose the fight plain and simple.!!!!! This will happen when David steps in the ring with Wladimir. If Klitsckho doesn't take David seriously he will be knocked flat on his ass because the Klitschkos have glass chins and are terrified of being hit, especiall punches to the head. The difference with this loss, and Wladimir's loss to Brewster, is Lewis was at his prime and on top of his curve. Wladimir was still learning.
But Lewis is still a great heavyweight while Rahman and Brewster will always be thought of as top contenders.

Although I am an American and a die hard Tyson fan, Lennox was a good man and a great boxer. I think his defeat came from a minor instance of carelessness. This seems not to determine the better boxer but a boxer who made an ego based display of carelessness and therefore lost to one hit wonders.

He was constantly being beaten to the punch, was wobbled in the second and fourth and was probably fortunate that Klitschko couldn't continue; (Also see the huge cut on Lewis' nose at the end)...have you actually watched this fight?! Your opinion is different to mine but that does not make it an insult; As you are only 16 you wouldn't have seen Tyson in his prime so you would probably not have as accurate a view as some who did. He did not get up at 6, he was helped up by about 8, 8and a half, by the ref who had already stopped it. Maybe do a remedial writing course, may help you put together a decent argument but im not convinced.
Example you say; "ref counted him out" then by your argument he was counted out ; then that is fight over - so you agree with me, good. See how easy it is:)

Lewis would destroy tyson and all of his opponents I believe, and it doesn;t mean their prime is over the second they get beaten, it means they met a better boxer or an awkward style for them or the other guy got lucky.

YOU posted the video; YOU watch it - the ref gets to about 6 and waves the fight over and physically helps Lewis to his feet...so he was not ok to continue and it was irrelevant too as the ref had stopped it!

To be fair to both the ref AND Lewis when he went down it looked all over; he did well to roll over onto all fours!! i agree with you that i have seen fights where fighters have been given more of a chance to recover or given a chance they shouldn't have, but in this case i believe the ref was right; look at Lewis' face at about '5' - there's no way he'll recover. Admire your defence of Lewis, but in my opinion tyson still beats him

But the ref didn't help lewis to his feet, thats illegal anyway, and it's all opinion I guess but the fact is that fight was stopped early.
And as for Tyson I still think the evidence shows lewis clearly the better boxer, and tyson gets wayyyy to much credit fo KOing some bums, in all fairness he did have some great wins over guys like Tony Tucker, Razor Ruddock, Larry Holmes but lewis way a different class to them.

Im not convinced the fight was stopped early, he is still very groggy a good 15-20 seconds later. I agree tyson did KO some nobodies, most prospects do that to get experience, Lewis did too. Im not saying Lewis was not a good fighter, he was a very good fighter. But i do maintain that a peak tyson was too fast, ferocious and powerful for Lewis. Cool debate

WATCH (i mean open eyes) it again; at 2.33 the ref waves it over and removes his mouthpiece while lewis is on all fours; 2.36 the cornerman comes into shot and puts BOTH HIS ARMS around him and HELPS HIM UP...you will have to help me with a time as to when lewis "has his hands up in shock and protest" as both his hands are by his side as the cornerman holds him against the ropes. @403766 And no; their sparring session in 1984 has been described by BOTH fighters as being "very even"; both suffered bloody noses/mouths but no-one was on top. Also you are wrong in describing where their primes were then: both were up and coming amateurs - lewis if anything was ahead as he had just won the world junior chamiponship.

This needed to happen to lennox. You can't honestly think you can toy around and corner yourself against the ropes and expect nothing to happen. This is the reason why i feel a prime tyson would have succeeded a Lennox Lewis. Had that been tyson he would have had about 3 more punches behind that.

pues lewis presumia porke tenia argumentos para presumir, practicamente barrio con toda la division de los pesados de manera contundente. en la pelea con klitschko ps fue una pelea ke agarro con 2 semanas de anticipacion y y por eso estaban en mala forma, le guste a kien le guste, lennox le gano a klitschko en buena forma, puesto ke lo abrio de un golpe, lo ke si podemos decir eske no fue su mejor pelea y ke practicamente le gano con su experiencia. una revancha hubiera estado muy bien! ;)

Tyson struggled with EVERY big mobile heavyweight he ever fought (Tucker, Bonecrusher, Lewis, Douglas) & was duffed up twice by little, but brave warrior Evander Holyfield .

Tyson only lost six times in his career. 3 of those losses were to legendary heavyweights (holyfield, holyfield, and lewis). the other three were fuck ups on his part.

OK in the 80s there werent such great fighters like bowe, holyfield etc but... look at Tysons Headmovement, his speed his combinations etc. he lost this after he got into jail etc... the Tyson of 2002 who was demolished by Lewis was a slow weak man. Only terrified bums and mediocre boxers, and washed up hasbeens like Larry Holmes, Lewis record is much better, he destroyed better opposition, including many of Tyson's opponents like Biggs, Rudock , Tucker, much more convincingly than Tyson did.
