thumbs up if Anthony Fantano (Internets Busiest Music Nerd) made you feel left out of the loop by reviewing a band you never heard of and that's why you're here.
Apparently they weren't banned because of this, one of the shows senior producers says he loved the whole thing and that the band are making it up to give themselves a reputation.
@astroboirap Actually it wasn't this show that got them banned. It was the second performance, when MTV shoved them in the bathroom and fans STILL managed to fuck the place up.
I don't know what NME is, all I know is I paid $14 to go see Fucked Up , and they had over 20 7 inches for sale that looked as if they all were released the same month. I am not fooled.
@sxepunk336 i just recently started posting, myself. i didn't really enjoy last year's breastfest that much, so i don't know. nobody was up front to catch stage divers because of all the tough guys. i had to stand on the edge of the crowd and take spin kicks for my girlfriend because she wanted to see advent. it definitely was no Ceremony, August 5th. but this year it's at Volume 11 which has a better rep than the Brewery as far as fights and such. idk man. i'll probably end up caving on it.
@0rangeDoorhinge yeah I'm a frequent poster on the proboards. I'm probably gonna skip out on breastfest. I've got so many shows I need money for and very little shifts at work with which to gain said money. But I'm sure breastfest is gonna rule.
Man, why is Canada light years ahead of most of America musically? I love my home in North Carolina but after my stay in Quebec i might just have to buy a flat in Montreal sometime haha
@BreakinGuitarz33 NC has so many good bands man. We've got Double Negative, Devour,Just Die, The Leeves, Stripmines, Torch Runner, FUSS, Whatever Brains, etc. Greensboro alone has some great shows. Hell, fucked up came here just a few months ago.
@sxepunk336 Haha no fuckin way! God damn why did I have to be in college when these guys came to my hometown...fuck life dude haha.
What I mean though, and especially when you see a live show like this, you just don't see crowds this much fun in most places in the U.S. Not that Canada is really any better, but for example when I saw Torch Runner @ Legitimate Business, the crowd was DED. I almost had to walk out cause I can't just stand still when I hear music that fuckin' good.
@BreakinGuitarz33 hey man not trying to be mean but NC's music scene sucks and is way behind everywhere because i'm from Cleveland and we have been doing this for years since like the 80s come to Cleveland haha... but i did live in rocky mount for a little bit it sucked there!!
@xRYANx7 do you live/been to NC? its got a fantastic hardcore scene in raleigh and a decent one in Greensboro and Charlotte. NC only had a handful of hardcore bands in the 80's (Corrosion of Conformity being one of the best crossover bands of the 80's). Go to a Double Negative show in Raleigh and tell me the scene there sucks. The problem with NC is there are a TON of different punk scenes. Raleigh has one of the strongest old school style hardcore scenes in the country.
@sxepunk336 Alright next time I'm down there I will have to go thank you for the heads up because while i was down there I had no luck finding hardcore bands and people to chill with. But I'm still saying Cleveland is great place for music and one of the best alone with Boston, L.A., NY.
This band is really needed at this point in time. I don't mean to be offensive but music today, underground mainstream specifically, has zero balls. There's a reason Appetite for Destruction hit it big in 87......
agreed, people seem to think that the androgeynous and sexually explicit ways of people like lady GaGa are controversial, yet in our society so used to these things it means nothing. Fucked up are literrally in your face and offensive, I love that. Its punk at it's finest
@newerawearer hmmm. I just wish they played faster. THey sort of sound like Black Flag on steroids. I think they'd some doubly awesome if they sped up a bit. And the singer is the only one who looks remotely interested. Ah well...
@anarchotrent There's enough fast hardcore bands. Fucked Up do their own thing and are amazing for it. The full length Year of the Pig is fucking outstanding!
Sucks they got banned from MTV because of this and their set in the bathroom. These guys definitely know how to bring the inner punk rock spirit from the audience!
And to DillonRahkola and HoracioGo15, I would also pride myself in watching MTV if bands like these were on.
Finally!! Ive been waiting/looking for this video for way too long! All i could find was the video of them playing in the bathroom in the basement at MTV after the trashed the stage at this performance. FUCKING SICK
Did he blade himself pro-wrestling style?
