@eduardoobregon Yes and no. You can be a bit more "violent" with high tension strings and get more oomphf out of the guitar, but I have discovered that is not the point. The point is dynamics - play in the middle somewhere, when you need to go soft, ease off. When you need to dig in, dig in. Standard tension is a good place to start :)
omg i love this song i use to listen to this when i was little in only 22 now hehe but my parents listened to this sort of music and i love all my friends think in crazy but ya cant beat it... xxxx thanx this a pretty good
just like to say a big thanks to you for sharing your talents and guitar skills across the globe, it brings inspiration to those of us who appreciate the humble guitar
Thanks Bro! No suprises it's us Aussies and yous Kiwis who comment on the Chisel/Rayney/other Aus/NZ songs I play - the rest of the world haven't heard them before. In fact I have an Acadaca song which I have noodled with, I should finish it and publish - at least a few people elsewhere in the world have heard of them ;)
Glad to help out, hope you get some value from my tabs!
Hey Brett, long time no hear. Yeah, this one is good for us Aussies ;) I've put the intro in since I played this, if the tab doesn't show it give me a hoy.
...but the best bit is that you know the song, and you want to learn it. I'm glad that at least a few people are enjoying my fingerstyle arrangements of Aussie classics! :)
Yep, pretty much any child of the 70's in Aus will know this tune, but approximately zero from the rest of the world will. You are indeed one of the few that makes it "approximately zero" rather than "exactly zero" ;)
Love Cold Chisel! I must be one of the few Americans who were fortunate enough to discover this band in the late '70's. "Choir Girl", "Standing on the Outside Looking In", "You Got Nothing I Want", "Bow River", "Khe Sanh" , "My Baby" and "Forever Now", some of the best tunes ever!
pretty impressive.. I have commented before on your (Canon) song.. Now that i see your quite the picker...Have you tried (Malaguena Salerosa) I prefer to hear it on a classical guitar. But it sounds good either way. Keep it up!! your awesome!
Malaguena - one of the first songs I learnt as a kid, and then learnt a more complex version later on...and can still play today. Not played for many years though; I bet it wouldn't be a problem, funny how songs lock into the memory forever...whereas I can't remember what I did yesterday ;)
Nice song, never heard it before, but it was cool. I will try to learn it. Your awsome man, so cool of you t put down the effort and time to make videos and tabs and give them away for free. Thats verry kind of you. Thx man
Thanks for noticing! I've got the intro sussed now, it was pretty easy actually. There are a few cold chisel songs that should be covered by fingerstylists, I hope to inspire others to come up with the rest ;)
great song, but I'm having major trouble on the second page of your tabs, It starts to feel like what you're playing in this video isn't what is tabbed, but maybe I'm just not playing fast enough.
...yeah, it's been getting more and more effort to do the tabs because my stuff is getting pretty complex, so I'm only tabbing out the general gist, you're gonna have to improvise, or send me one meellion dollars ;) ~~~~JAW
im not a 30 something aussie and therefore have never heard this before but it looks like you have arranged it well. you sound much better on the nylons. what song are you doing next?
This was a Cold Chisel song? What I have heard from that band back in the 1980's was pretty unimpressive.
In fact, the playing here was so idiosyncratic that it initially isn't very comfortable listening. There are nice moments of Spanish and Mexican flavors here, though. Interesting video.
Hey, I know what you mean with being hard on the nylon strings. I got used to them and now have a more delicate touch on steel now when I play. They are really easy to bend when you're fretting but it does make you more accurate with time. Higher tension did help me out some but most of it is practice I think.
