Wow, he plays this rather on the fast side, feels far too hurried for my liking! Never really been a fan of Maisky's playing, don't get me wrong I do admire his interpretation, it feels very classical, but it just doesn't feel as relaxed and laid back as I've become so used to.

I suppose it could be that he's a really big guy, physically, though that's unlikely for a Russian Jewish male (though not impossible), but does anyone else think the cello he's playing on looks rather small?

Wow...I am looking for inspiring recording of this this concerto - just now i prepare it - and every other was so sad(Noras), techically weak, not in style(Feuermann). And finally I found somebody who understands this music the same way like me - funny, virtuoso, delicate catilena, really entertaiment music of Haydn's epoque - outstanding performance, thank you Misha!
