well, only if you use the tuning in this video. The 6th string has a lot of fret buzz and the general sound of the wound strings is "bwow" (lol?) kinda sharp?... but erm, I don't know... It sort of suits the folk/chicken picking sound. I guess it all boils down to preference! I just don't like it when my strings flex. I'm just fussy! :D
Well, that would be a good solution for many players. I used to use a thumbpick and switch between the flatpick and thumbpick. I got tired of constant switching, so over a number of years I slowly slid into this style. It suits me.
I see, it's the same for me too, but I prefer to use a thumbpick. The problem with flat pick is thta you lose one of your finger... By the way in a hybrid flatpicking it's easier to play chords in go and back movements.

Did you ever try out the "Kodiak Grizzly" pick? It's an attempt to have the flatpick AND the thumbpick in one.
