SPANKY Sad to see some of your music & videos taken down because of Copyright Infringement. I really look forward to your great music. Elaine you should be like Carly Simon and Heart, that post their own music for fans to see & hear. Thanks... Sir David
I wished we had an oldies station and played music like this along with the older bands of the 60's 70's and early 80's. Miss hearing them on the radio.
I personally never find the time/energy to do this (this is my 1st youtube posting). But I feel COMPELLED since I personally MET Spanky at a nightclub gig here in L.A. I was dispondent to see them play COUNTRY music during the "urban cowboy era"...she said.. the OLD is the OLD...at LEAST they did a MEDLEY of the old tunes in their 2nd act.
When I later asked a male singer what happened? ..he replied the band had "died" ..further went on to say how one died of pnemonia..another of alcholism.
Under-rated song from this group. We took this kind of music for granted at the time, thinking it would go on like that forever. Thanks so much for posting it.
This probably a style of music that we will never see or hear again from these times, just like the Beatles ...will never happen again, we that lived it are blessed to have the memories of those times!....love...poppa
@MrPoppa2 With all of the music and videos the TV shows like Midnight Special, Halla Baloo, and many groups that made prime time TV they should compile it all together and make an oldies show series.
I haven't heard this in many years. Now I know why I kept singing the line "lots of time with nothing to do, lots of time to spend with you". I wondered where I heard it.
@kznte Yes but if it made the radio they would cut it to 2,1/2 minutes only song I have ever heard on the radio more than 31/2 minutes was Mac Arther Park. / Richard Harris and that was 7 min 25 sec, and that made the radio without cuts
This is such a brilliant composition/arrangement. I wish the record companies would wake up and smell the coffee and promote some good music instead of the crap they usually subject us to as of years of late.
Saw this group in concert at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1967 with The Beegees and I think a group called The Yellow Pages. I was a sophmore in high school. It was my first real date in a car and it was about a two hour drive from my house. We went with another couple in a Volkswagon beetle. I fell in love with their harmonies and still love this song.
I remember hearing this song with a typical-for-1968 bit of psychedelic sound-collage business at 2:33 - I think there was some kind of law in effect that pop songs were required to do some Sgt. Pepper-y stuff somewhere.
This song is an acquired taste. I remember disliking this song when I was a kid when it was 1st played on the radio. It then became one of my favorites from the 60's. Listening to it again helps me appreciate the voice of "spanky" MacFarlane". Her voice was hers alone! Fantastic.
@sixtiesforever1966 Yeah I'd love to relive SOME of those days...other days maybe not....but didn't we have the best music? Thank God I got to experience it first hand!
@flydadj Nice to see someone agree without reliving the bad times. We had the greatest music and now with YouTube we can relive it and even see some of the live concerts and TV shows they played.
@sixtiesforever1966 .. We had it made, and for me I thouht it could only get better, as a people and a nation with the arts following suit... man was I wrong... but the 60's + are preserved and in that respect we are blessed...

I'm sure it would have great ratings

No offense, but this is not the entire length of the version from their greatest hits album. The original version is over 6 mins long.
kznte 8 months ago
@kznte I intentionally edited it for just the song because much of the six minutes is talking and rehearsal.

@snafoolery I like the talking too, it adds so much to the fact that it take alot to get it right and it's very interesting for me.
