Unfortunately Ensemble Studios was disbanded by Microsoft after Halo Wars was finished yes (and it didnt have even anything to do with either the quality or sales of HW,that decision was made long before by Microsoft)...dont know what those reasons were,but those guys didnt loose their jobs,they formed new studios

@allghilliedup21 not if you hide them in trees or buildings. They have powerful rockets and can make quick work of armor but they cant go toe to toe so you hide them in a building and they rain death upon passing armor while being protected by the building.

@creez34 95% Most of the Japanese troops were in China. The US had Britain as an Ally going into the Western front, the fact is that the US barely did shit in WW2.
@creez34 Their medium tank, the T-34 is arguably the best during WW2. And like the American M4 Shermans, they were able to mass produce a shitload of these, which the Germans could not keep up with. Also the T-34 was well armored; the Panzers couldn't penetrate their armor,only the heavier Tigers and Panthers could, but even that didn't help them much. the Soviets did a hell of a lot more than the US. While the Western allied sat around, the soviets took much of the blow during the war.

@Yasharkilla123 As an actual student of the USSR, with access to information most people probably don't have, I'd have to say that the United States was always stronger than the USSR, from WWII onwards. The missile gap never really existed; we always had more reliable warheads and delivery systems. On the conventional front, the Russians had quantity, but we had quality and in not small numbers either. We'd have won any conventional conflict and probably any nuclear conflict too.

There was a book writen by a U.S. Lieutenant colonel in Europe during the cold war ( 80s) , he was one of leading strategists of U.S. Military against and retalliation metohods against a possibile Soviet invasion in Europe (And I say, EUROPE). And he realized that a invasion with full force from a Soviet army tatics of 1970 (who he had at time) would crush entire NATO and US troops in Europe in matter of days.
@TheRazorbackpilot Be realistic, the entire NATO air forces combined wouldn't have done jack against the VVS-Soviet AF alone. The airfields were targeted by cruise and nuke missiles throughout the Cold War and would have been the first casualties in the first hours of the war. The Navy would have been useless in a conventional land war in Europe and even if NATO-US air forces would have survived, they would have faced swarms of enemy fighter bombers, SAMs and interceptors, good luck!

America's economy, if boosted to its maximum like WW2, will triumph over any country, except China. The Soviets' economy was in ruins after WW2, but America's wasn't. And same thing for this scenario; two superpowers go to war.
The marketing for WIC was somewhat confusing when comparing it to the actual game...images of Soviet troops rising a Soviet flag at the Iwo Jima monument, video of a nuclear explosion at D.C...when in the game they never even broke out of the Washington state...nether less, one helluva game!

@Yasharkilla123 As an actual student of the USSR, with access to information most people probably don't have, I'd have to say that the United States was always stronger than the USSR, from WWII onwards. The missile gap never really existed; we always had more reliable warheads and delivery systems. On the conventional front, the Russians had quantity, but we had quality and in not small numbers either. We'd have won any conventional conflict and probably any nuclear conflict too.

To build weapons to liquidate the states of the nato parasit in the case of cases. @junkers1337 Yes, actually the Russians invading us in WWIII would be extremely stupid because they have never had good amphibious capabilities. The other thing is that the Soviets were extremely large but more a lumbering land power, so had they tried to use all their forces on our home turf our navy would more than likely have sunk their ships, our air force would have shot all their planes down(thank Red Hats/Eagles), and our army would have destroyed theirs.

And I probably exagerated about 10,000 but what I'm trying to say is that it wasn't a close race. However if I am wrong please lead me to where you found the information

@ForsakenThirteen Not your not wrong the United States was ahead of the Soviet Union in many respects. The soviets seemed primarily in the line of thought that quantity was a quality all its own. but america had a larger nuclear arsenal by a lot. this was throughout the cold war as well.

@FilipH86 the u.s. had more. by the thousands. besides what does it really matter, both sides would loose regardless of who had more. the soviet union had an estimated 30,000 warheads of various yields at the time of its collapse. the united states is confirmed to have produced more than 70,000 warheads. how would the ussr with its deep social, political and economic rot compete with the u.s.? they tried and the rest is history.

There was a book writen by a U.S. Lieutenant colonel in Europe during the cold war ( 80s) , he was one of leading strategists of U.S. Military against and retalliation metohods against a possibile Soviet invasion in Europe (And I say, EUROPE). And he realized that a invasion with full force from a Soviet army tatics of 1970 (who he had at time) would crush entire NATO and US troops in Europe in matter of days.

@TheRazorbackpilot Be realistic, the entire NATO air forces combined wouldn't have done jack against the VVS-Soviet AF alone. The airfields were targeted by cruise and nuke missiles throughout the Cold War and would have been the first casualties in the first hours of the war. The Navy would have been useless in a conventional land war in Europe and even if NATO-US air forces would have survived, they would have faced swarms of enemy fighter bombers, SAMs and interceptors, good luck!

@allghilliedup21 Yes, I know that was a horrible example on my part, but that's unless someone can come up with a better example of a big tank war(and making it more horrible of course is that it was in a desert, for a month Iraqi air and land power was hit constantly) Really I think for a hypothetical situation if the VVS invaded for a victory for NATO would depend on whether the French decided to fight or stay out. Also keep in mind that with our stealths (maybe) we could have hit their supply

@TheRazorbackpilot Kursk 1943, buddy. It is the biggest tank war in the history of warfare...and the longest. The Gulf War lasted about a week. Kursk lasted a bloody few months. Between the Germans and Soviets...each side was very unforgiving.

@allghilliedup21 Yes, I know about Kursk, I'm not as strong in knowledge of the Eastern front and that it was the ninth level of hell. Compare it to the Western campaigns and those look like a freaking walk in the park. The ground war in Desert Storm I mention because it is as close as you can get to the whole of a war between the Soviets and NATO, because it involved the weapons of those pacts.

Being a DS veteran is nothing to be proud of, really. When you survived hell like D-Day, Stalingrad, Iwo Jima, or Vietnam, then you can be a "Veteran" but honestly look at the death ratios between Iraq and the Coalition. Can't even compare

Yeah, about a couple of hundred deaths compared to the thousands of Iraqis. I mean even the most famous battles were so lopsided, like 73 Easting or Norfolk. However in a battle with Europe, we may have suffered heavily from the Soviets, but(and I read you comment), our capitalist economy would have won out because of the mass production that can be relatively high quality. With the Chinese however they might knock out South Korea and the ROC, as they really didn't have a good navy back then.

@lape2002 You seriously underestimate NATO-US powers, don't you. Soviets may have the numbers, but their economy wouldn't be able to handle a prolonged conventional war, even without using nukes. America's economy, if boosted to its maximum like WW2, will triumph over any country, except China. The Soviets' economy was in ruins after WW2, but America's wasn't. And same thing for this scenario; two superpowers go to war.
