that's good they are trying to end FGM, they should also be doing the same for MGM, boys deserve the same respect

it is not about respect, it is about health. some experts say MGM actually helps protect from HIV by very little percent and, MGM isn't as dangerous. FGM--I think they take the clitoris out which is very helpful for sex. I also heard that females who did this may have more risk of trouble during child birth. so, It is not only the temporary pain during the first traditional surgery.

safe sex practice protects from HIV. If u take care of yourself u won' have problems, if you do there are other methods then jumping to amputation, just like any other body part. Cutting off 2 fingers may not be as bad as cutting off 4 but it still does not make it anymore acceptable. That is why respect should be given to both males and females for genital integrity. Many men have had MGM done to them without their consent and are angry about that, this should be noted as well.
