It sucks that you can't sort email by who its from, the subject, whether it has an attachment or not etc. Really Google. How can you NOT have that? I was hoping they would have it fixed this time around but it doesn't look so.

Honestly, it's about time. The old interface was horrendous! I avoided using my Gmail account as much as I could because I hated the interface so much. It was not intuitive at all and way too text heavy. Looking forward to seeing what this one looks and feels like.

Cosmetics is nice, but the real improvement that's needed is the ability to delete just an attachment without deleting the email it's attached to.

@kosstheory Yes, on an email by email basis, messing up the "conversation" organization structure that's one of the better features of gmail. I believe Outlook let you remove only the attachment that but I haven't got it installed to check. But with google, I don't expect them to only be the same as other clients - I expect them to be smarter and to think out the problems in their design.

If someone asked you to argue in favor of gmail, two of the things you'd probably bring up are 1) hard to run out of space so you can send lots of attachments and 2) groups of emails arranged by conversations. But this design flaw causes one to defeat the other.

So, if this is something they plan on releasing soon and they recognize that people have probably copied this video several times by now, they realize that submitting a DMCA complaint over a video that doesn't generate profit is a bit overkill. this looks like it is going to be by far the best update ever to gmail, i'm especially fond of the ability to create new filters from the search box :). the old way (going through settings) is a pain everytime.

@fcukicnatsplel You do not need to go settings to make a new filter. Just click "Create filter" on right side of the search box and you can create filter, check it and then save it.

Now this new update will allow you to make a search and then click wanted options in dropdown list. While the current is you click filter, type your criteria, click next and click wanted options.

@charlie5231990 GMail makes is EASY to switch.  Until 3 months ago, I was still using the AOL account I had for 15 years. I, too, was worried about making the change, but mail forwarding (included for free) made it a no-brainer. Now I'm completely free of AOL and am LOVING my gmail account. Happy converting!!
