for everyone who doubts the existence of God, and brings on more 'logical' answers, i say this: science can give u answers on what is happened in the past, but God will give you the answers on what is going to come, and the way off doing that is by having FAITH. The basic line is, we christians do good, because we feel God within, not because we read the lines in the bible and practice them as robots, just to get our place in heaven, it doesn t work this way. Egoistic people won t get in heaven, heaven will come in 2 sec after death, and if you never experienced true love on earth, you will probably miss it, because you ll be scared and won t be able to recognize, .. practice love daily, for it is our nourishment en only truth.

seriously the lord has gave me such a great life compared to the terrible life i use to have and even then god was by my side i got invoved in youth group and all kinds of activitess with the church .seriously made it a huge difference in my life .even though my parents are still messed up. im seeing amazing mircales thoughout my life. even might get my parewnts one day .....: )i pray hard for it . but i keep my head high and kepp god in my life and my life has gotten better. just need faith

all those instructions given i.e kill homosexuals etc. were for a very different people living in a very different world. You cant simply take those accounts out of context and apply modern ideologies to evaluate those actions. God commanded such things for a reason. And perhaps sometimes people to be made an example. It is still better to die as such then, than to be thrown into hell for eternity. But in the days of the new testament, we have Jesus to set our example because the law didnt work.

for everyone who doubts the existence of God, and brings on more 'logical' answers, i say this: science can give u answers on what is happened in the past, but God will give you the answers on what is going to come, and the way off doing that is by having FAITH. That' s the whole meaning of being Christian, it s a way of life. Faith is the acceptance of what we cannot see, but feel deep within our hearts. If you truely believe in the good, the good will happen in your life.

For starters, science can give us real explanations of the past, yes, but also explain things as they are, and will become, as well. Science also thought us that the bible is historically and scientifically incorrect. Pretty lame for a God to not know his own shit, don't you think?

It's awful, and you are not responsible by any means, but your God is either letting it happen, or is not around to do anything about it.

And lastly, the bible can not in any way be referred to as "the good". Read it and see for yourself. The bible is a woman hating, morally twisted piece of shit literature that teaches for example women being raped deserve to die if they don't scream for help, and is a bigger sin, than actually raping a woman. (Actually, if you rape a woman in the bible as a man, your "punishment" is that you have to marry her, and cannot divorce her for the rest of your life.)

Well certainly. I also think believing in "the good" is a step in the right direction. However: I believe (or want to believe anyway) in the good will of our people - our species - and not that the will to do good comes from a deity. People can be and ARE good without orders from "God" every day!
And let's be honest, which person is truly good: The one who does good because he's told to do so or the one who does good because he himself wants it? Because that's the real difference.

And even though some christians certainly do good because it lies in their nature to do so, many still act only according to scripture (hence the discrimination against f.e. homosexuals), and ALL in the hope of an afterlife. So to say Christians don't hope to be rewarded, is a lie.
Atheists, on the other hand, do good without any of those hopes and promises. They do good simply because they themselves want to. It is a freedom that religion cannot offer.

Look, i am Christian, not really convinced about life after death, .. i read the bible and talk with others about it, i feel alot for buddhism too. When i was atheist, i wasn t going to do harm to anyone on purpose either, my intentions have never changed, i already have my freedom off choice. But reading the bible isn t always about do the right, and isn t always about do the right in order to have eternal life and place in heaven. It s for a huge part about getting peace for urself.

The basic line is, we christians do good, because we feel God within, not because we read the lines in the bible and practice them as robots, just to get our place in heaven, it doesn t work this way. Egoistic people won t get in heaven, heaven will come in 2 sec after death, and if you never experienced true love on earth, you will probably miss it, because you ll be scared and won t be able to recognize, .. practice love daily, for it is our nourishment en only truth.

Look, you seem like a good person, and I'm not trying to talk you down; saying that you only act according to scripture. I'm simply saying that people don't get their morals from God. You said all good comes from God, I simply proved that wasn't the case.
It's important to note that the passages of the bible that you like, already stands in agreement with what you thought even before you read those passages. Hence you did not get those morals from the bible.

I understand if you say we don t need to read those morals in the bible, because we already 'know' them. If you only knew how regularly reading about the moral love rulles off life can help you remember it better, and really let you think about it, like a moralbook which you can read daily, so many people just need that wake up call once in a while.. certainly when they are on the wrong path.... The rules are the rules, who ever goes against them, will be unhappy...
