Heard yet another common misconception about horse behaviour, from a rodeo lover. It is considered normal for a horse to gape his mouth. It means they are happy! Horses run with their mouths open all the time! Broncs ALWAYS have their mouths open when bucking (a clear sign of stress/fear/overwork). Some DVM's even say this., "If your horse is panting or open mouth breathing, you need to try to cool him down and contact your veterinarian immediately." Funny, huh?Funny Peculiar, not Funny hah-hah.

Do u know nothing bout sports n general. in human instincts, when a athlete puts his or hers absolute effort n achieving their best, do they make nice & calm faces. where does this "expertise" bout horses's feelings come from? let me guess. in a "perfect" world where nothing bad happens. @AnimalLeftist Raising rodeo livestock is a part of my family and your just someone who thinks horses are not made to work but instead sit around and look pretty. Well guess what pal the first horses that were broken did nothing but work. We treat our livestock like they are royalty! So before you start running your mouth more I would come out and visit me and get a real education.
I would have to disagree that Cody Wright rode like a machine it was really Wade Sundell that deserved to win the world and out rode Cody by far at the finals and had earned all his scores unlike wright missing a horse out but getting a reride for a supposed post when he was a foot or two away from it
@020038794 I like Sundell's attitude & not Wright's conservativeness. I was rooting on Sundell because of the exuberence. However, if u take in2 context over 10 rounds, Wright rode the better horses. Everytime Sundell stuck it on a horse, Wright stuck it on a better horse. His spurring mechanic's was textbook unlike Sundell's flashy style. The last round could have gone either way. It came down 2 luck of the draw. Cody won out. Still stand by my statement, Cody rode like a machine (efficiency).
@020038794 As far as the controversy, u don't deserve anything. U earn it. It was not Wright's call. It was the judge's decision. Like the way in any sport, sometime it goes ur way. Other times, it doesn't. Roll with the punches.
@rwillie22 i have to argue that wade deserved the title... cody appeared to have been given some "blessings" on the judging. sundell rode with incredible style and spurring. Every where you rodeo scores are rarely even to all contestants especially if a judge has a favoring to one or two contestants

Them are all good people! That was one hell of an NFR. I grew up riding with the Wrights (some of em)..Jesse is my age. The Wrights have helped me out a lot on my bronc riding journey. Good ol papa Bill the father of Cody is a good man and a true cowboy. Taught his sons well....Good job Cody!
