I did not know there was another better then the last one tune; of the XTC BUT this tune has me floating and I and typing my PC suspended from planet earth. OMG this is magnificent the notes the lyrics the instruments Masters and the Vocalists. JUST S p e e c h l e s s . Now My U.K. Angel Being that shared this would not believe I shut-up but YEP this kept my mouth shut. Every tune XTC performs is a GEM for the Soul. They were ahead of their time like many of our greats gone before. LOVE :)
I have loved this band since i first heard them many years ago. I was lucky enough to win a radio contest I won a bunch of free singles and such, then went to see them at the old Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin Tx. They just got better and better and still are one of my fav all time bands. Incredible music. Thanks for all the work you put into posting thier music.
I used to wonder why more didn't listen to XTC, and was kind of sad to tell ya the truth. But I now know that it's ok because I see that they are truly appreciated by all of you and you all feel the way I do about them . Your comments are all almost as beautiful as the music itself which is wonderful to see. Great music, Great lyrics, and great memories! Thanks XTC!
There is an official vid to this but I can't seem to find it online. Song gives me chills, but I don't think it was intended to be profound. Just some young wank trying to impress his date with some pseudo-science babbling. Illustrates Andy as a reductionist and hopeless romantic, even at his advanced age. What a dude.
I don't know how anyone could thumbs down this piece. The most spiritual piece i have ever heard... It has been embedded in the deepest parts of my personhood! And it gives me chills down my spine every time i hear it!!! Thank you for the beautiful post!!!
Like all prophets and the very good and best of humanity, nobody notices until their gone. Andy an co...loved your music from the very beginning. At least us fools, bombed and busted know eh...
XTC's Music is what the Universe would say if it spoke to you through Music! It is special and timeless. It is simple and complex. I sincerely LOVE the Music!
I hate to sound like I'm dissing Dave Gregory (who is a great guitarist), but I kinda feel glad that Andy was forced to do all the guitar work on XTC's final (?) album. I'm sorry, but his guitar work always felt more emotional than technical and it was interesting to hear that. Just listen to the duet at the end of "Books Are Burning" to hear the difference.
The world needs more up tunes like this where musicians and songwriters actually care about what their audience hears. Most bands do the 'I suffered for my music, now its your turn" schtick. but thankfully, not XTC .
One great pop song. So sad that when it was released it was never given the chance to insiduate itself into the minds of people who may just have been lifted by it.
@oggosaurus There's a huge library awaiting your discovery. Enjoy the music and videos here. But invest in the cd's, they are carrying 11 times more info than mp3's. (music matters)
In this new dark age... this awful Simon Cow/bullshit/eXcrement factor/talentless/rubbish-filled void of a music scene - you come and tap XTC into Google and feel that all can be right with the world again. It always connects me back to beauty, hope and delight .. a big box of paints. I've also realised there is a lot of weather and seasons in XTC. Love it all.
A great song from a great band. I got to see them in Austin Tx years ago after winning a radio context. One of my favorites bands ever and this song is one of thier best. Thanks for posting. XTC for a jack and jillion years!!!!!!!
You made a YT account a few days ago and only searched out this video to make your very first comment to insult XTC fans? I'd hate to see your 2nd comment (which is why I'm blocking you).
While you're waiting for the incredible genius of XTC to return, check out St. Vincent, Gorgol Bordello, Fleet Foxes and Eugene McGuinness to tide you over. They are some of the few that dare to be mentioned in the same breath as XTC.
Dear God. Every time I think I've heard the best from Andy and Colin, I'm surprised once again. The Wheel And The Maypole used to be my favorite XTC song; it has been replaced by this utter masterpiece.
Can you get any better? Well, if Dave was on it to add that famous icing. That would be better. Otherwise, I can't think of a better song that exists. Now my favorite XTC song, for certain.
Wheel and Maypole is one I've read Andy regards as his zenith, but I find it fatuous. This (and countless others) have greater merit. He's great, but not his best judge! :)
This beautiful tune should have thousands of views. The group glows with warmth and enjoyment. The message is way ahead of its time. How many people do you know that in the year these beings began their career talked about "We are All Light"? Truly a brillantly written song. A masterpiece. To have a Dear Friend share with you, makes the tune even more special to your heart. "Good Taste in music." That is always a Plus. "Love to You." :)
A Classic XTC. One of my favorites, and it definitely leaves me wanting more. Time slows them down perhaps, but Andy and Colin just can't be quite done yet. I think they have other priorities but also won't compromise their high standards that squeeze their muse. Either Andy will get like Bill Nelson or until Colin jumps in for another round now and again. But I love these guys. Maybe a new collaboration will evolve with a new producer or some other creative inspiration...like money.
Stephen Hawking meets a Right Said Fred drum-fill; the element gets hot and stuff just pours out. Genius.

Successors to the Beatle mantle for pop brilliance. Andy is sublimely talented and wildly underrated.
