  • Not the traditional lyrics, which are much more meaningful. I suppose this is the more modern version. Too bad someone felt the need to change it.

    Honestly I did not know there was another original version. This song is from John's album "If ye break faith" and it's credited as "Traditional, Arr. E. Robertson". I hope you enjoyed it anyway even if it's different from the one you used to know, in any case thanks for letting me know! :)

  • Again, Carolyn, thank you. I come originally from Scotland but have long made my home in Ireland. This song catches at my heart. My Grannie used to sing it, for her two sons, my father and uncle, who were among the Flowers of Scotland who were a' we'ed away in World War 2.

    You have chosen an interesting, as well as a moving selection of Celtic songs.
