Why is everyone so against raising taxes?You americans get petrol so much cheaper than most countries it's absurd. Take where I live, UK. I pay almost 2 dollars/LITRE, and you pay, what $2.50 GALLON! (theres 4.5 litres/gallon) So a rise of 20 cents isn't going to kill you, we pay 4 times as much and I survive. And it's not like this money is going to be nicked by the govt to pay for their luxury cars, it's going to be spent on healthcare, education etc. Same with income tax. What's the problem?

Why is everyone so against raising taxes?You americans get petrol so much cheaper than most countries it's absurd. Take where I live, UK. I pay almost 2 dollars/LITRE, and you pay, what $2.50 GALLON! (theres 4.5 litres/gallon) So a rise of 20 cents isn't going to kill you, we pay 4 times as much and I survive. And it's not like this money is going to be nicked by the govt to pay for their luxury cars, it's going to be spent on healthcare, education etc. Same with income tax. What's the problem?
