  • Weirdly I just started watching this to realize I live across town....haha

  • 5:44 Are you seriosly pointing at me??!!?!?!

  • @Jacko02mj Never noticed that before...but no, I would never point at you. :-)

  • @jimfusco Never mind...

P.S DUDE YOU RLZ I wanna home studio like that :)

P.P.S I wrote about 6 songs and i cant record them only because of the LQ :(

  • Seriously ? Is this HOW TO CHANGE A GUITAR STRING ?

  • @glbowencpa Yeah, part 1 involves that. Guess I couldn't keep your interest long enough for parts 2-4...

  • you showed me how to string a guitar... not rec a song lOL

  • @jovanify Umm, I take it you didn't notice parts 2-4?

  • @jimfusco

ye, but consider skipping the stringing guitar, cuz we dont really care about it... we cam tl learn how to rec a song not string a guitar

  • @jovanify Understood- I guess at the time I wanted to show how much bad luck I have while trying to record. Trust me, it gets better as it goes on (once I start actually recording). Thanks for writing!

  • @jimfusco do you know of any good cheap recording software, and i have a microphone but i dont know how to turn down the sensitivity but , i dont know where to find the options

  • @BTvisuals Unless it's on a Mac, I can't really help you. Maybe someone else on YT can respond?

  • Thanks a lot man!

    You're really good!

But, 1 quastion: Where do you connect the microfon that records the guitar?

  • @filsommer Thanks! I hook it up to my Tascam 2488 24 track digital recorder. I use a standard XLR microphone cable. I think parts 2-4 should answer it a bit better.

  • if i want to make a cover recording my guitar direct to the pc....do I only play the guitar over the music, do i use backing tracks....i would like to have the original song but without the guitar parts so i can play the guitar parts myself...im confused what should I do?

  • Comment removed

  • you should use HD camera

  • @KKOPPI I have one now- check out my Laptop Sessions series here on YouTube and you'll see my cool new HD videos!

  • plz help what free online studio can i use

  • @SuperFreakilicious Not sure, but there's a ton of great software studios, including Soundtrack Pro and Audacity.

  • Jim, I think you've left your hairdryer on in the background

  • @CyrilLeBop LOL- that could be either my washing machine or my furnace...

  • Is this still your current setup?

  • @ClixProductions01 Well, now I'm working on a new studio, as I bought a new house. So, it's going to take some time. But, I still use the same essential items, though I plan on using a better set of microphones for the next album.

  • your cute

  • @elvisphil :-)

  • i record with a cassete tape recorder it is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery cheap

  • @fatzmember I used to as well, but my love of layered vocals forced me to switch to a 24 track. To each his own, though!

  • I have that exact same tuner : D

  • @TheCoolestCanadien Inexpensive and reliable!

  • Jim you rock!

    PLZ Help me!

when l record my song(l record in cubase sx3)

l record guitar and bass in pieces, but l dont know how to merge them(or glue)

    plz help me!

    Thanks

  • Sorry- I don't use Cubase. But, there are many forums online that can answer the question. In my computer recording days, I used to splice things together, too.

  • You remind me of Jim Carrey :D

    Nice vid :P

  • @742617000027j96 He's my favorite actor, so that's probably where I get it from! Thanks a lot for the comment.

  • Thanks for the great videos, you need to be featured!

  • @iodfibvdhroibo Agreed. :-) Thank you!

  • usa bell

  • You have agood scence of humor and yet you still get your point across.

  • @connerspencern Thanks- that's exactly what I was going for- glad you enjoyed it!

  • ha ha! "that my brother oh so wilingly loned to me(i stole it)" lmao..

  • @pimpmobile09161518 You know, I don't think he's ever even watched this video, so he still has no idea! :-)

  • hahahah your funny,

  • @DangerousMusicProd Always aim to please- thanks!

  • idk if the plyers thing was a joke or not, but i have a planet waves, tuner, ball remover, string winder, and string cutter, ALL IN ONE, it is the best guitar investment i have ever gotten

  • I have since gotten one myself- at the time, I used what I had in the house- gotta improvise when inspiration strikes!

  • i live in ct

  • @EfersRcool Whereabouts?

  • @jimfusco in the new haven area

  • for some reason you remind of jim carey on cable guy

  • @spit021 The part where he's insane??? Well, I don't know about that, but I LOVE Jim Carrey, so I'll still take it as a compliment.

  • you know what im just gonna use a different mic.

    lol

  • @Michaelguitar1 We've all been through it- I'm too cheap to buy another mic, too. :-)

  • im a little scruffy too

  • U are awesome!! thnx for the vid i really like it.. Good luck!

  • @piddey123 Thanks so much- I hope you'll check out my website (my name dot com) and tell me what you think of the finished album!

  • 6,400 viewer bang on

  • those are cool acoustic panels, i think im goinna try to make something that looks like that but make it able to sound proof a room.

  • @Benjemima2220 Just make sure you don't use Gorilla Glue like I did- when it came time to remodel, I was swearing myself up and down!

  • awesome gitarist

  • @ponymaker4 Wow- I don't consider myself to be a great guitarist, but it's always nice to get a comment like this. Thanks!

  • rich

  • @guterdak Thanks!

  • would i have to polish on an electric as well

  • @jay2rocks Sure- the Fast Fret conditions the wood on the fretboard and kinda lubricates the strings, which makes it easier to switch chords.

  • unwind them first...its makes it 101010101010101x easier

  • @MRpoopsniff A practice I now use.

  • LOL!..

"Please note that no matter how many times

I do this it never gets easier,

If you dont push it in far enough

It will snap back and hit you in the face "

    LOL!..

    Hillarious...

    Hillarious

  • Thanks!! That was a completely unscripted and, unfortunately, all too true... :-)

  • Comedy special lol :)

  • @brad1571 "I'll be here all week..." :-)

  • you are witty

  • @peterpetersbng Thanks- always helps in a video series like this.

  • IM STUCK USING KRISTAL

  • Sorry- not familiar with that. Care to elaborate for me?

  • ok thanks a lot and i love the music video great.oh i subscribed to ure vids.

  • I saw- thanks! I knew you'd love the video- hope I continue to please! :-)

  • where did you by the acoustic panels and how much are they???thanks love the song at the end very good.

  • I got them on eBay from a place called Foam By Mail. They're not the greatest quality of acoustic panels, but it really does help cut down on the echoes. I got ceiling panels, as well. They help in my "vocal corner" of the room.

I hope you'll watch the completed music video for the song in this on "How I Record A Song, Part 4"- thanks for watching!!

  • Dude, get a plastic string winder that has a peg puller on it. I am cringing watching you pull the pegs with metal pliers!

  • You're cringing watching it, and I was cringing living it! I have now gotten one, though. This video just shows what happens when ambition takes over even though you're not totally prepared. Thanks for watching!

  • Let me introduce you to my good friend ... coca cola. Ha ha ha, this video is great.

Good to see that I'm not the only one who's greeted by daylight once the recording is complete ;)

    Cheers from Berlin,

    Antill

  • LOL I'm glad you enjoyed it- and I'm glad I'm not the only one that stays up all night in the spirit of finishing a track!

  • ;) so true. Guess it's 10% talent and 90% persistance. I'll send you a friend req.

    Antill

  • Great stuff Jim! I've been playing guitar for just under a year and I use YouTubers like youself as a constant source of inspiration. Thanks!

Oh and you may want to get an exorcist into your cursed recording studio - - broken strings, busted wingnuts... I dunno', evil forces at work man...

    :D

  • Wow, have long have you known me? ;-) Thank you so much for the comment- I'm planning on doing some other "How I Do It" videos in the future, That is, as soon as I recover from this disaster! Well, things usually turn out very good, as this song did, but getting there is always tough! Thanks again and keep in touch- I'd love to know about your progress!

    ~Jim
