WOW! Gorme was incredible! I nver thought I would find a version of this song I liked as much as Judy's but here I am loving this version and thinking, this woman was awesome. She blows like Gabriel's trumpet on that one.
Do more vintage Gorme appearances from the 50's and early 60's survive? Miss Gorme made several appearances on Steve Allen's Plymouth Show, appeared on "The Garry Moore Show" 12 times, 3 episodes of The Bell Telephone Hour, had her own self-titled variety show on NBC with Steve Lawrence in 1958. She also appeared twice on Ed Murrow's Person to Person and had guest spots on just about every singer's tv show of the time.. Dinah Shore.. Pat Boone.. Frankie Laine.. Andy Williams.
@TheFlutefreak It's fun! We did it my senior year. I was lucky enough to be the Field Commander that year. It was a blast to conduct, I could only imagine how much fun it is to play! =)
This is from her album "Gorme Sings Showstoppers" did she ever sing "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" from the same album.. live? I'd love to see that!
LOL...what I mean is, even when she was young she sang songs from her parents era,,,never heard her sing POP...Barbra Striesand is in that same catagory..."old even when she was young"
My favorite part of this song, no matter who sings it, is when Johnny "got in Aida, indeed a great chance to be brave," and how he "howled like the North Wind, brought forth wind that made critics rave, while Verdi turned 'round in his grave." I like those lyrics (thanks, Lorenz Hart).
i don't know if is important if she Sephardi or just a ny girl hes husband and her friends like frank sinatra enjoy with her voice i grow up with her sing i hope you read their biography nice week
Everything about this performance is top notch. Eydie not only has amazing pipes, but her showmanship is superb. I wonder what TV broadcast and year this was from? I'm guessing
No, I didn't know that. That makes me love them even more. I surely would like to meet them. I loved her version of "A Girl With A Suitcase" (I think that is the name of the song. Wonderfully woeful!) God Bless Them!
She is really one super singer. I saw her and Steve twice and they were great. Just wish I could see them again!!! Nobody can top them. Beautiful voices!
Eydie has one of the best voices ever. Why can't we get this level of quality on tv anymore? Where have they been anyway, stuck in Vegas? Thanks for this video!

Eydie holds that "One Note" at 1:22 for THIRTEEN SECONDS - Longer than even Judy (whom I adore) did!

I love this song and the way she performs it. She was never really given her due for singing. I like the Carol Brunette version of this song too.
