  • I have never seen a dulcimer like that....

    Where did you get it???

  • That's a Clemmer double-neck - I play a Folkcraft double these days. : )

  • That sounds a little like "John Henry" that was once played by Stephen Seifert :D

  • It's got a little Seifert influence in there, for sure!

  • You're the steel, bending man!

  • LOL! I like that. : )

  • Great job Bing...another good video as always. You must like your Clemmer, I haven't seen that thing leave your lap...lol. Yeah, I posted a couple videos on my page finally. One of me and sam being dumb from like 2 or 3 years ago and then a music one. I just got a new camera though so everything will be better quality than those other videos. Later!

  • Thanks, Josh - Yeah, I love this Clemmer. I'll check out your videos here soon!

  • Hi Bing! Great version of John Henry. I will try to learn it. There is a great version by by Memphis Slim on harmonica that I recommend for any collection. I just love blues on the dulcimer. Thanks for the lesson and the inspiration!

    Martin

  • I'll look for that - thanks, Martin!

  • Hi Bing! Sure do love the sound of that double neck. My compliments to the builder of that dulcimer. It has a wonderful clear tone.

  • That's all Mike Clemmer - and she's a young dulcimer still, excited to hear what she'll sound like with some more energy, love and vigor in her.

  • Nice playing! You make me want to put the dulcimer in my lap and get my thumb in on the fretting action.

  • Hey Mike - thanks man, I appreciate that. You do just fine without the thumb, it's really a matter of physiology, I think. I feel *some* limitations in the thumb, as I also feel much freedom. I've tried frets-forward and it's kinda late in the game to switch stances, perhaps.

  • What a nice series of instruments you have, Bing! And thank you for bringing us the blues.

  • Thank you, very kindly, Josh.

  • Excellent blues number! You know, if you had painted the room the right green, you could FX any background you want.

John Henry is a great tune -- one of the first I learned to Carter Family-style flatpick on the guitar.

    Q

  • I *almost* went with chroma-key green, but figured it would hop up the wrong chakra. I chose "Merlin Blue" because it corresponds with the throat chakra - an area that needs a lot of work over in this camp. Jammin' "John Henry" with you would be heaps of fun - hope we can do it soon. Thanks, Q.

  • good show...both numbers superb

  • Thank you, David. Did you get my last e-mail about Suwannee Retreat 2008 (the one later this year) YouTube mail's been acting strangely.
