A carbon tax is a waste of action. If it is too low it won't change anything and if it is too high businesses will close down and the jobs will go to India or China where they are not going to reduce any emissions. The majority of their industries are not as clean as those of the western world and there will be higher emissions of CO2, so that would be doubly bad.

To assume it is cyclic reads of not understanding the science. Yes warming has happened in the past but it is still from build up of greenhouse gases and for natural reasons, ie. volcanic activity. There are no natural events as explained by any other science which wold contribute to the build up of gases in the present. CO2 used to be 40% but that is not a good argument as apparently the plants breathed differently. With regards to the north pole I would strongly suggest you read-up on the polar regions. Try the National Snow & Ice Data Centre. The small Palmer Peninsula of Antarctica is getting warmer, while the main Antarctic continent is actually cooling. Ice thicknesses are increasing both in Greenland and in Antarctica.

CO2 levels have skyrocketed along with the temperature. Dips in temperatures are caused by cooling factors, like volcanic activity increase (SO4 levels) and sun activity. But those factors have been quite stable, yet the temperature is still rising.
Can you point to a specific peer-reviewed study that shows dramatic changes in global temperatures? The IPCCs report indicates a mild warming of between 0.6-0.8C over the past one hundred years. Global temperature are not rising at an alarming rate, infact the opposite is true since the mid-nineties. I know it's a dirty word around here but mother earth is cooling.
We are/have been in a cooling phase for the last decade or more read the IPCCs reports. If you disagree with anything I have written please substantiate your counter claims with evidence rather than calling me and other people 'liars'.

Hi, I'm interested, could you direct me to some of the evidence your citing?
I've not searched any out so I reserve judgement, but I'd really like to find out if your position is based on good science or if your previous position makes you biased in judging the flaws of studies/records.
I'd love to get some sources of real climate change yay/nay info, because all I get to hear is nitbits that've come through the media and are therefore totally unreliable. Unlike medical journals etc, it's hard to know where to start when forming an evidence-based opinion on climate change.
Look up the work of Dr Mitchell Taylor he has been studying polar bears in Canada and around the Arctic Circle for 30 years, as both an academic and a government employee. From data he has collected over many years he finds Polar bear numbers are on the increase and where numbers have modestly declined it's due to local reasons not global warming. He was turned away at a meeing of the PBSG (Polar Bear Specialist Group) because his views "were not helpful" in other words he is a sceptic.
It's very easy to manipulate imagery and turn it in to something it isn't. Another example is when ITN show a clip of ice falling in to the sea. This is a common site in the antartic nothing at all to do with global warming. Ice becomes unstable much like a cliff face. AGW proponents view collapsing ice falling in to the sea as proof of AGW. You simply have to laugh at these people especially when you look at the overall temp of the antartic.
There is no Global Warming, it's just a scam that the Left use as an excuse to tax us more.
The Climategate leak has proved what I suspected all along - that warming data has been exaggerated. And how much C02 will this huge gathering at Copenhagen?

A carbon tax is a waste of action. If it is too low it won't change anything and if it is too high businesses will close down and the jobs will go to India or China where they are not going to reduce any emissions. The majority of their industries are not as clean as those of the western world and there will be higher emissions of CO2, so that would be doubly bad.
Look up Maurice Strong and why he is in China.

There are other factors than CO2 on climate. What about it's very engine: the sun. We don't hear about that. To assume it is cyclic reads of not understanding the science. Yes warming has happened in the past but it is still from build up of greenhouse gases and for natural reasons, ie. volcanic activity. There are no natural events as explained by any other science which wold contribute to the build up of gases in the present. Humans are replecating natural process but doing it quicker than nature does meaning impoverished people and thousands of species can not adapt in time.

Climategate is just the icing on the cake that serves to reinforce what anyone who respects actual science already knows, namely the concept of man made climate change is a scam and even if it were true, then placing a tax on breathing and allowing the perpetuation of heavy industry is simply not going to fix the problem. All planets are going through a heating period at present (Its not man melting the polar caps on mars) but will soon start declining. On a longer time scale earth is cooling.

The taxes are mean't to make people avoid waste/use of carbon. The taxes could finance a global authority responsible for monitoring, taxing etc. and the remainding money could go towards the development of low carbon technology (grants to companies) - nothing to do with a worldwide banking system!

CO2 used to be 40% but that is not a good argument as apparently the plants breathed differently. CO2 is presently 3% of the atmosphere which sounds low, but it accumilates more in cold areas hence the north pole is melting - in the UK, we have just exerienced the hottest decade in history! (and thats only in the last 9 years according to the papers) - this is serious - in the UK, we will have to paint our houses white to reflect the sun in a couple of years - and what about skisoon - facts!

We are coming out of what is known as the Little Ice Age and regardless of that temperatures have remained virtually static since the mid-nineties. With regards to the north pole I would strongly suggest you read-up on the polar regions. Try the National Snow & Ice Data Centre. The small Palmer Peninsula of Antarctica is getting warmer, while the main Antarctic continent is actually cooling. Ice thicknesses are increasing both in Greenland and in Antarctica.

Climate Change exists - always has done and always will do. C02 isn't a threat to the planet, we need c02 to survive and Humanity isn't causing the planet to warm up or cool down - thats just the climate acting normally. This is merely about global taxation and world governance. Climategate helped open my eyes.

CO2 levels have skyrocketed along with the temperature. Dips in temperatures are caused by cooling factors, like volcanic activity increase (SO4 levels) and sun activity. But those factors have been quite stable, yet the temperature is still rising.

Can you point to a specific peer-reviewed study that shows dramatic changes in global temperatures? The IPCCs report indicates a mild warming of between 0.6-0.8C over the past one hundred years. Global temperature are not rising at an alarming rate, infact the opposite is true since the mid-nineties. I know it's a dirty word around here but mother earth is cooling.

That is an AVERAGE that is raised across the board. A 1 degree increase of average temperature is enormous on a global scale.
The last 20 years are the hottest globally within 150 years of measuring. The Earth has not been cooled substantially for decades in a row.
The nineties were NOT cooling down, that is a plain dirty lie.

No he is not. Tim Ball has a Phd in geography and retired before there even was such a position as a climatologist. He did one thesis researching historical weather records in Canada. That's it.

Studies and analisis over many years and backed up by theory and concrete evidence dictates whether the weather patterns are chan ging for the worst. The climate does change as it's supposed to, in order for university buffs to keep recieveing funding they have to show they are needed by creating histeria, otherwise they become unemployed.

Glenn Beck claimed he got the Phd from London, but since that claim comes from a notable rightwing pos, I rather doubt he has even a phd from there.

Absolutely correct. Earth did see a mild warming of between 0.6 - 0.8C over the past 100yrs, hardly cause for alarm and well within normal variations recorded over the last millenium. The trouble with the IPCC is they bury crucial data such as the medievil warm period. They rely on computer constructs which spew out the same data no matter what you feed in to them. The hockey stick graph, the IPCCs poster boy has been utterly discredited by experts statisticians, and climate scientists.

Paul aged 4 - It's difficult to reason with anyone who would/could think that discharing 90 million tonnes of industrial pollution into the atmosphere each and every day would have no effect on the workings of the climate.
If Darwinian natural selection was still in full force with humans, it's difficult to imagine any more than a few millions humans, a medium to large mammal.
Our technology enables us to extend but it has come at a price for the natural world. My 5 year old boy can get that.

I'd love to get some sources of real climate change yay/nay info, because all I get to hear is nitbits that've come through the media and are therefore totally unreliable. Unlike medical journals etc, it's hard to know where to start when forming an evidence-based opinion on climate change.

Look up the work of Dr Mitchell Taylor he has been studying polar bears in Canada and around the Arctic Circle for 30 years, as both an academic and a government employee. From data he has collected over many years he finds Polar bear numbers are on the increase and where numbers have modestly declined it's due to local reasons not global warming. He was turned away at a meeing of the PBSG (Polar Bear Specialist Group) because his views "were not helpful" in other words he is a sceptic.

It's very easy to manipulate imagery and turn it in to something it isn't. Another example is when ITN show a clip of ice falling in to the sea. This is a common site in the antartic nothing at all to do with global warming. Ice becomes unstable much like a cliff face. AGW proponents view collapsing ice falling in to the sea as proof of AGW. You simply have to laugh at these people especially when you look at the overall temp of the antartic.
