i like certain scenes in series 8 (including this one), but i didn't like series 8 overall... some scenes weren't funny, didn't add anything to the plot, and were drawn-out for far too long (e.g. the scene where they discuss the dinosaur eating curry and getting diarrhoea seemed to go on for EVER). i hope the next series is more consistent!

Why they chose her to be Rimmer's replacement, when he was arguably the funniest character on the show, I'll never understand.

She didn't have as much to in the show as the guys did, and that's a shame, because I think they wasted a lot of opportunities. It didn't need to make such blatant and constant references and re-enactments because it was funny on its own. It had a funny premise. But no, now it's been dragged into "IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE I RECOGNISE IT" comedy - and let's not forget the author ego stroking. The BBC just can't get anything right now.

Please stop blaming Americans for what happened later in the series. It makes no sense. A BBC show catches on here, so they decide to change the whole style of humor and feel of the show? That defies logic. Why change what's working? More likely, the writers just got lazy or ran out of ideas. I and most American Red Dwarf fans loved the show early on, and were just as disappointed as you all when things started declining.

Come series 7 (which wasn't too bad) The show was "dumbed down" for American audiances, this clip highlights it perfectly, the humor changed from subtle and witty jokes to slapstick and in your face humour, there were a lot more sexual references and a lot less classic cultural references, and the story lines no longer had to have any realism or explanation, for example why would the nano bots build red dwarf to its original specification when they didnt come to red dwarf until Kryten?
