  • If you wanna get some really good footage of vacant buildings... get a fire scanner. I roll with GFD sometimes, and ive seen some pretty good shit

  • :(

  • gary and has now left you should b proud of were you come from instead of downing the city just because you r embarrased by how it looks. now im a fourteen year old boy and i know that gary looks like this because the city is consistinly loosing money. and some of the buildings in gary r historical landmarks and can not b demolished 4 example the church across the street from my school that was in this video can not b demolished because of the simple fact its a historical site 4 our city. (2/2)

  • @jasmorris2010 Well said. The people of Gary I have encountered have all been extraordinarily friendly (nice contrast to the west-side of Chicago), and I respect that it's a city that has literally been to Hell and back. If the government can get their act together I strongly think the city's revitalization is on the horizon. The new housing just west of Broadway, and the restoration of the Dalton Building are both excellent indications of Gary's future. Just waiting for the Palace's turn.

  • i live in gary now and all these little comments about gary is disrespectul and also not true i mean yeah most of the buildings are run-down but i love my city and that why i haven't left yet gary isn't as dangerous as everyone makes it out 2 b now when was the last time you people heard about a murder in gary on the news its been a while you people should b more scared 2 live in chicago than gary now 4all the people that came from (1/2)

  • @BloodlockSCC Thanks! Haha that's awesome!

  • I was born in Gary, Its a sad sad place now . Just look around -thank goodness I'm gone and I have no regrets about leaving nor have any reason to go back.

  • my mom saw many movies there. i feel so bad for all the people who loved gary and this is whats left of their hometown. our whole family was buried there.. including my brother.. but its too dangerous to go and check on their graves, or the home my grandparents built, and my mom grew up in. i dont even know if its still standing. my mom says "they wanted ti, and were willing to kill for it. everyone ran for their very lives. it was like chernobyl."

  • all that probably closed because of all the crime there

  • dixie square mall looks way worse then any of these places =P

  • Jon-Another excellent video. It's too bad I'm not closer. I'd love to take a couple of years to document the dead buildings of the lower 48. Maybe create and film one big documentary on the decaying of America.

SoCalCoaster521-I'm sure we'll see more DSM vids from Jon if it's not torn down like it's been said. I live in SoCal and never see anything abandoned.

  • @PampersPete That's a great idea! We should do this.

  • I would if I had the money :-( Maybe I'll get sick of all the bullshit, become the next Jesse James, rob banks across America to fund a documentary on what's wrong with this fuckin' country and have some anarccaic fun along the way only to die in blaze of 9mm glory! :-D YAY! Lol!

  • Closest I've seen to a project like this is UER's database, however it's not updated often and you have to be a full member to see it. Gary's Post Office wasn't even on it.

  • DAMN! No originality prize for me. I DO look good in a one piece bathing suit though. *wink wink nudge nudge* :-D

  • @jonrev Dumb question, been to DSM a few times, as well as Riverdale silos, but went to Gary and drove around but did not get out. WHERE DID YOU PARK? I didn't want to park my car ANYWHERE around there and leave it. There were a lot of police just randomly driving around as well. Did you have any hassles with police?

  • @fode140 Sorry I'm late. No problems with rollers. We parked on the street for the post office and the Palace. At the church we parked at the school across the street.

  • @PampersPete I wouldn't talk like that on the internet if I were you. Somebody might actually take what you said seriously.

  • LMAO! No offense hondolespaul but I've been banned from so many websites I've lost track. :-D I could actually use the FBI to investigate me. I live in a pretty rough town and I get scared and lonely when I leave to get cigarettes....lol!

  • @PampersPete Oh, I see.

  • Seriously though, hondolespaul, it would take ALOT of money to videotape and categorize all the abandoned buildings in the lower 48. I just checked out UER. Man...depressing. If I had a videocamera, I could become a full member but all the shit they have public sucks because it's 90% demolished. The pictures and info are cool but not the best guide for UrbEx sightseeing.

  • @PampersPete I have a lot of money tied up in investments. Not sure if I want to part with some of them though.

  • I have no job and no money. It's perfect! I have all the time in the world to document dead shit. :-D

  • That might be a good way for you to make some extra money.

  • Good video, glad to see you found some new places to shoot, it's going to be sad not seeing any Dixie Square videos come thru my subscription feed anymore.
