The English were a free people long before any other nation. The American revelution was not about getting new rights it was about keeping the rights the English had as subjects of King George III. Watch the "John Adams" (from HBO) and you will have a better understanding of the rights of English. I hate to say it, but the EU has taken lots of the rights the English used to have.
