this goal was only ok if it wasn't for hooking by Canadian players. I counted 5 hooking penalties by Canada on this play and he still got the shot off at the last moment, haha
And he outspeed all the players on ice with insane acceleration and this despite these hooks.
This just show how fast he was...
Canada's players better than the Soviets? That's a joke; they were just playing out the rules and using roughness; if it wasn't for Referees the Soviet coach could have asked for Canada to play four men al lthe game and put only one in the box so they could at least have the minimum number of player allowed.
Hockey is the only professionnal sport where you can fight litterally (beside the fighting sports).
I think the fights and rough plays are part of the game, but there is line not to cross between playing rough and dirty.
Personnally, I prefer two players to drop gloves rather than one using his stick. Saw the play with Chris Simon last year? This kind of things should not be.
It happened sometimes players have got into court for these assaults. They got fined at worst.
Clark did his duty! Lol seriously, you're right; dirty plays should not have been part of this serie.
But, although Canada was looking forward for harder checks and rough plays, USSR super stars never went head down in the corners; at this time, hockey players were used to hit and if they could let some elbows or stick go b ythe way... they did.
I mean, this gesture was more obvious than others.
Anyway, USSR had a way more skillful team than Canada did.
Well, to stay perfectly neutral, you have to consider NHL players couldn't be chosen as national team players.
Russia enjoyed their stars for a way longer time than Canada did.
I think the Soviet players were better players anyway, but they wouldn't have got the job as easy as they had if Canada was also allowed to put in its best player.
