It's not starting fluid. You can use most aerosol cans and don't need to worry about it burning after you mount a rim like that. Petrol and other stuff would however keep burning.
It's an old trick, but you still need to air up after it's sat on the bead. But i'm sure you knew this. :)
@Adrienne82 For 1 you need to learn to spell before you bash another mans video , you cant even spell the word TWO and you call him a retard ? kindly go fuck yourself !!!
@greasybentwrench this is how i did it at pepboys i tried using a cheetah and ratchet strap and it didnt work fast enough so i was like imma store use some throttle body cleaner sprayed it in lit it and all four tires mounted on the rims in 45 minutes keep in mind though they were 49 inch tires going on 16 inch rims
this is not how I would mount normal tires but this is the way you mount stretched tires, be careful with whatever fluid your spraying though, he didnt need that much
@Amund7 freedom of speech unfortunately. im not going to however, but the guy doing the tyres can stay the hell away from my rims if his gonna drop them lol
@Amund7 i am totaly with you man! courage! this video shows courage. there's nothing idiot in it. people like british overindulged pussies would shit themselves by doing something like that... health and safety! arrrrghhh...
Been there done that. Thats why u need a buddy thats been drinking to stand there with the air hose and loosen the valve core. Amazing what trail and error will teach you haha ps have spare valve stems on standby sometimed they like to shoot through the woods
@barnesj89 I own a set of these tires. I did some shopping around and they were the cheapest name brand 33x12.50 tires I could find with an E load rating. I have had great luck with them in all types of terrain, including mud. Plus they wear great and are much quieter than many other tires. About $40 a piece cheaper than BFG all terrain
Too much spray causing the air inside to change state which creates vacuum pulling the wheel right back off the bead. Less spray and pull the valve out to the schrader or you can just keep a pump constantly pushing air into the tire through the schrader valve.
i never understood why people get these tires. they're super expensive and are only good for sand, not mud or crawling. it seems like a bad investment to me.
@barnesj89 I fully agree with you. But when our shop sell them, and the customer wants them, then we have to mount them as well. I'm sure they're great for the customers that do only snow, sand and tarmac.
try using one of those air cans called a cheetah with air it will take two ppl one to open the cheetah to force the air in and the other with a air line
@TooManySnakes have you ever tried to use a cheetah and a do the air line? i don't think you have bcuz if you did you wouldn't have posted that comment. better question is do you even know what a cheetah is? let me tell you what it is. a cheetah is a portable air tank with a long spout that is flat at the end with a ball vavle on it.
@bigjimmy2225 You've got to be kidding man, I've been doing roadside rig service calls for years. Obviously you can't seat the bead on a 24" steer, let alone change a case and balance it up without taking the wheel off the truck, or you wouldn't have been offended by my "worth his weight" comment. yeah, it's a big friggin air cannon to direct under the bead it's a one arm operation if you know what you're doing.
@TooManySnakes yeah i don't think it is a one arm job if you know what your doing. cuz you have to hold the tire up to the bead to shoot air into it and the tank takes one hand to hold it up so u don't scratch the rim and the other hand to open the ball valve so it takes 2. now if you can get the air in with out holding it up to the bead then it can be a one man job
you better get your facts straight thats not explosives its probly wd40 or silicone oil light a match it gos in flames do it with a rim and tire around it it explodes tada! mounted tire!
Be very careful doing this with older damaged tires... I did this (using much less ether) with a tire that I had just patched and the tire literally exploded. The source of the explosion: the tire patch. It sounded like a pipe bomb blowing up right in my face and the hole in the tire was big enough for me to stick my hand through.
u didnt put enough because it didnt have enough pressure to hold it on the rim u can but alot of starting fluid or have a compereser on it to put more puresser
it went flat because you used too much, the explosion fills it up, but then fire eats the air inside and it gets flat, the gap was huge also you must use that much or even more then inmediately inflate it with air
Haha. It went flat. Ur not supposed to use alot if that shit smartass! U simply spray the rim once. Don't soak it like this moron. And u spray the fluid on the flame but face it to the rim. And itl inflate.
it wasn't the air contracting because of cooling effect if you look close it didn't seat properly at the bottom of rim and the presurised air was still coming out while the tyre pulled itself back to where it was
Not true... For the tire to be seated on the rim they use any flamable spray. When its lit inside the tire, it cause the air to instantly expand causing the tire to expand onto the rim. HOWEVER, what happens when the air cools and the valve on the tire is closed? The air gets cooler and shrinks, causing the tire to be pulled back off the bead.
When using this method, do exactly what the video showed. Then just use something to push open the valve on the tire so it doesn't get pulled off again.
The valve core is out. What we're supposed to do here is to run in with the compressor hose and stuff it down on the valve, that works, but this time nobody was ready with the hose...
Seals perfectly. However, when the gas cool off, it contracts and effectively sucks the tire back off the rim! I was supposed to shock fill with air, but I was holding the camera... this is the right method, we were just one man short
I don't understand why you are saying this. The beads are fully sealed for a few seconds which is completely evident in the video - the loud whizz you hear is the hot air/exhaust coming out the valve. I am very interested in how the correct method is (I have seen people do this perfectly on Youtube - without tire getting sucked off right after)
Again pause video at 15 seconds bead never sealed against rim! If you would have had valve core in it may have sealed correctly. If the bead had sealed there is no way it could suck it back off.
Good comment, but without that much fluid it's not even near seating. We just need to pour in air right after it's seated. Maybe a different type of gas is better?
Again the sheer intellect of your comments amaze me. It is not WD40, it is starting fluid - but we have found that different brands behave totally different.
