  • i love this song and band

  • are you a god man? yes you are

  • Heaven is HOT and so is Marc!

  • @SunshineLuvsmusic That's 100% true!!!

  • 70's was just the best hahahahaha ohhh yes xxxx

  • Beautifull man too young and talented to die.

Forever beautifull, and his talent lives on xxxxxxxxxx my main man xxxxxxxxxx

  • t - rex dinosaurs will never die

  • Cool ! Old school forever!

  • My Uncle Mick turned me on to T-Rex & this song back in the mid-70's.

I was a mere child. Uncle Mick was killed by a drunk driver at the too-young age of 26.

Rest in Peace Dear Uncle. I'll love & miss you always...

  • Still fascinated by this hymn. It's a sublime funeral march of sorts. Emotionally gutted, death rattle, 'Bolan likes to rock now', rearing to revive but feeble in his attempt. Main man may be a retort. A rebuke or retort. Hauntingly beautiful, hauntingly sad. Just wow really. Bolan's music is all about feelings. No wonder the poetic types feel awed. Like if you're a poet of the C21st. :)

  • @stanibol nicely put

  • Marc in my heart for all the days of my life! Noone can take your place! LOTS OF LOVE!!!

  • what can you say class from a super class man

  • Certain music can put you in touch with your inner being. LOL Bolan's music is rather like a tsunami on tiptoes, inconspicuously engulfing your heart.

  • I've come to the realization that there are only 2 days to every week. On days when when your heart and body are in raptures, those are "Metal Guru" days. On days which occupy the mind and put you in a pensive mood, those are "Main Man" days. Plus, Bolan's 'Great Horse' is the lullaby of all time.

  • BOLAN LIKES TO ROCK ? DOES HE f**K!! Marc will always be the Main man.

  • he is was and always will be!!!!!

  • @classicrockfan555 thank's for yor kind words. I'm glad about every fan who loves him.

  • Marc Bolan the most underrated Rockstar ever...sad! He was a great musician and wrote a lot of good music. He was charismatic, charming and had a great stage presence and his music is timeless. Thank's for your legacy Marc, you're never forgotten.

  • @rexmania77 Keep saying it, I can't hear it enough times! Yeah, me too, it was so sad even though I wasn't alive. Timeless music, wonderful person, I love him!

  • I had The Slider album for my 6th birthday. I adored T.Rex, but I never understood the lyric "Bolan like to rock now, yes he does.." I thought (in my childhood innocence) that he was signing about being on a rocking chair which was a distinctly uncool image, especially when Val Donnican was on telly in a rocking chair at the time! After T.Rex I loved ABBA. As equally good songsters!

  • @woutch bolan likes to rock now, shades of ziggy stardust?

  • I love this version. I am indeed a frogman.

  • oh yes he is .... the ONE AND ONLY MAIN MAN!!!!!!! A LOVELY, BEAUTIFUL, SEXY ARTISTIC, ONE IN A MILLION STAR THAT IS FOREVER IN MY HEART!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw TRex in a double bill with theJeff Beck Group in Portland about 1974? Awesome show..I always wonder who would have been bigger, Bolan or Bowie if Marc Hadn't died.

  • @jgebauer1

You are sooo lucky. My mom wouldnt let me go with the older girls to a concert (1 mile away from my house)

I was only 10 at the time, but I still havent forgiven her!

  • Marc Bolan is my Main Man

  • @classicrockfan555 Thanks to Bolan's music I was able to source my Main Man, an electronic warrior and quite a bit electric too...

  • @classicrockfan555 He is my MAIN MAN TOO! Love this and all his songs!

  • @SunshineLuvsmusic Glad to hear it!

  • the slider is one of the best albums of all time

  • So musically limited...but what he knows he knows best!

  • slider the best bolan album ever

  • I adore the defiant way of asking the same again and again.. ;) could have been spoken by anyone, every human, male or female once ..

  • To my ear, this is a hymn which is deeply anti-establishment, and in such a subtle way causes reactionary vs trance-like feelings that culminate into a feeling of despair.

  • Indian Raga Bolan style. Dysfunctional lyrics set to a repetitive yet progressively intensified warp combine to present us with a feeling of utter freedom as logic and reason are set free, but the easy beat, the melody, is so physically demanding posing a counter-weight and causing us to feel locked in. This composition is nothing short of genius.

  • T.Rex ist seit 1970 meine Number 1

  • all the good ones gone it's not fair I miss you Marc never forget you

    :-(.............

  • heaven is hot babe marc we love you happy birthday wherever you are xx

  • First and best in my rockhistory, and glad to see there are many more than me...=)

Whwn I was a little little child, my father let me go to se T-rex live in my country<3 .

It was the best !!!!! But I love outher band too , and the reason for that is MARC!

So when I go on a Green-day consert fex,,, I Know Marc is whith us and smile, and love it because Marc love Music and undestands it!

  • @4864115 What was the crowd reaction at the T-rex concert you saw?

  • @DAVWAVE I saw T.Rex in concert 3 times in the 1970's. Marc Bolan was a fantastic performer. He really loved his fans. The crowd during the sold out Truck Off tour in 1974 rivalled Beatlemania. The last time I saw him was on the Dandy in the Underworld tour in March 1977 just 6 months before Marc's death. The band were outstanding and blew The Damned off the stage. Sadly, sadly missed.

  • @andytrex That is great to hear about the concert and that you got to see them. And I knew Marc was making a commercial comeback right before Gloria accidentally bumped him off...sad indeed.

  • Main Man was included on the 1972 album, The Slider. Magic!!!!

  • The Year Was 1972 x

  • loved the music...bolan was the main man...electric warrior, boppin elf and slider,,,rock n roll great with just a twist of fate.you ravaged the runes of my tunes.x

  • great song

  • Nothing like Bolan's music before or after. Unique.

  • 1972

  • prolific!!can listen to him 24/7~

  • "The Slider" is a very good Album from the last living Dinosaur, but my Favorite is "20th Century".

  • ringo starr took the photography fer this album

  • one of the best rock !!! yes hands down

  • i think this song was put on in 1972 or 1973

  • Yes everybody should have the slider, every track is really speciell and I never forget even if i was only 10 year, My dad was musicians and my first Lp Was this, my dad was a proffs and I learnd so much from marc bolan Love

  • a magical song!

  • I first bought the album for the Bang a Gong song and fell deeply in love with these guys. This came out in 1968 and is even better now than it was back then. This holds sooo many memories for me. R.I.P. Marc

  • This is from The Slider, 1972. I cannot say which one is better, as someone said, everyone has a special touch, Bolan was a genious, very underrated by music crtitics who mix his personal stuff ( drugs, tax evasion, married w/Gloria a black w0man, Rolan his boy) with his music. He was, and he is, at same level of Dylan, Lennon or any other influential music of XX century.

  • Soo nice just love it! Marc is out of this world! I know my doughter would love him but she and him are at same place now, I lost my doughter when she was 14 but i know she hade loved him. Marc is so timeless and even before his time i hope we meets again and i hope you fogive my english, I´m from Sweden. Love/peace

  • marc bolan war der größte...

  • O yes it was the best band in 60-middle of 70, miss him soo, baut his music are round us for ever !!!! Marc R.I.P

  • Great stuff, never forgotten.

  • I am 24 years old raised on classic rock, 80s and 90s grunge.

You people of the 70's had it made music wise.

  • yes we did and by the 80s we wished we were back iv been playing this song almost every day since it came out . it still bring back memerey

  • @FollowersofDamu u know it ,kiddo.

  • Big Bowie fan here, just getting into Marc. Amazing to see how much this guy influenced Bowie. Or maybe vice versa? I know this guy died much too early.

  • LP is best

  • ever so...........

  • MARC WAS A GOD..........

  • hearing this just brings a lump to my throat. what great days these were. what a talent this man was. how can all this be so long ago? im gonna cry

  • Our Magical Marc... so deeply missed.

  • My lovely Marc; at your finest

  • Nice song

The year is 1972, of The Slider

  • keep a little Marc in your heart.

  • Beautiful song by a beautiful person for beautiful people :-)

Rex.

  • T REX - FOREVER

  • One of my favorite T Rex songs. I love it better on the album when t goes from the kick ass ending of Chariot Choogle right into this. If you're a T Rex fan at all you know exactly what I'm talking about.=)

  • tnx to Morrissey ~ i'v discovered this guy

this song is in my top 3 favorites

  • R.I.P. MARC

  • great song!

  • love this song sinc ethe 70's

    best wishes frm peru

youre the guy marc for ever

  • 1972

  • In the out take version of this song Marc sings about Jimi Hendrix, how he played a mean guitar and now is gone...I thought that was interesting the other day when I heard it...

  • Sound hasn't error.*****

  • oh yeah oh yeah, i love this song i love it love it love it

  • This song doesent get credit its due ..... shame really

MAIN MAN und natürlich GET IT ON ROCK ON

    fg...maxim

  • Cool

welches video?? :O will auch ma sehn ^^

  • @Jeepster631

    auf jeden fall!

    Bolan war einfach der Hammer!

  • @Em0Angel44 hey du, wie gehts dir? lange nichts von dir gelesen^^^^^^

  • Thank you for sharing this amazing song. T - Rex was at the height of their popularity about when my father was 16 so I can't say I really identify with the time or the culture but something about Marc Bolan's music strikes a key inside of me, especially since the passing of my father about 7 years ago. What a visionary Marc was, taken well before his time.

  • Slider 1972

  • Taken from The Slider album, released in 1972. Produced by Tony Visconti. One of the best albums from T.Rex.

  • the soundtrack of my youth

  • I'm 16 and I've just begun listening to Marc Bolan's music. the first song i heard was 20th Century Boy and I've been listenin since then. I have to say, for some reason his songs soothe me.

  • as a child i laughed a lot now it seems i cry a lot

  • 1972 from The Slider, no doubt you've been told this hundreds of times! Can't believe this album ONLY reached #4.

  • If you're intrensted in this mucis watch movie 'breakfast on pluto'with Bolan's music <3

That's the BEST movie about 60's and mental revolution in Great Britain.

  • What a star!

  • I was about 8 (is it strange to dance so late?) in the late 60's, when I first heard Bolan's music and from that point his music just grew under my skin. Now some 40 years later it sounds ever so fresh and even better than back then when I was a kid. He really is my MAIN MAN and always will be. What a beautiful music and what a beutiful man...thanx for sharing this masterpiece!

  • marc bolan is the main man no one will bet him he is to good

  • this is (HANDS DOWN) the best rock band in history

  • @CAR18MEN I totally agree whith yoy, my english is bad bau I try=) Marc understod everything, and I try his strength, I wanna screem listen to Marc and find your roots, even if its hardrock. Today I like Greenday and Metallica and its only beacuse of Marc

I must find a specelly sound and there are not many who can deliver that

  • @4864115 your going in the wrong direction.........

  • @meotoko77 ...and the right way is?

  • @pollenprognoosi To go from Marc to........Greenday and Metallica..ewww. I slightly like Metallica..slightly.

  • @meotoko77 NO I dont´t! if you dont´nt mean my english?

Marc Bolan is my first musiclove, as child, and teenage, I t was the only way my father who was a musicer find out to get me interested! First piano, and so on, so on!

Marc Bolan openend my heart for different type of music and today I can´t even count all band and artist Ilove, I toke only Metallica and Green day as example.

So thanks Marc, I know You are around us always!!!! Love

  • @CAR18MEN :) how old are you?

  • Best after Mambo Sum

  • He was magic,to sorry hes dying to young!

  • I'm 23 and I recently discovered T-Rex too. I saw them on VH1, and when I heard 20th Century Boy I was like "OMG!!! What have I been doing all my life without this wonderful music?!" I love Bolan's voice, his lyrics, his style, everything.

  • I'm 27 yrs old and am just now discovering his music. I can't believe it's not played more often or more abroad than it is. I love his music.

  • The Slider what a fantastic album everybody should have it, every track on it is special,

  • Love this song. :')

  • One of Bolan's best songs, IMO.

  • danced right out of the womb . . . my favorite Bolan line

  • hahahaha thats great i love it

  • even though the song is slow, it's excellent in its attractive slow march towards groovey .. huh?

  • The year was 1972...this is the last track, side 2 of The Slider Album.

  • The only artist who could take utterly nonsensical lyrics and turn them into poetry!! he danced right out of the womb man!!! absolute gold!!

  • Not the only artist...Mccartney wrote

    ( writes ) nonsense lyrics too...but I like Marc's better.

    He is the Main Man.

  • Love Marc but this is one of his weakest songs for me. It has a nice tune and feel but the words are a bit too throwaway. Sorry, it's only an opinion!

  • 1972 this arrived on the scene

  • lovin u my marc!!! 10/10....i will always...KALMIYH !!! xxdeborah xx

  • how is posible to don' love him....

  • Bolan likes to rock now yes he does yes he does.

Poet extraordinaire you are much missed!

  • Mine too. Slider is also one of the greatest albums ever.

  • One of the greatest songwriter's ever. Rather then make abstract songs weird, he made them into brilliant masterpieces. This is one of my all time favourites.

  • When Bolan was 'on' it just simply didn't get any better. 'Are you a god man, are you a frog man' just totally blows me away everytime I hear it.

  • Yeah I agree. What a weird line to use in a song. It fits perfectly though.

  • Marc Bolan, songwriter and poet supreme!

  • Released on July 21, 1972 on the album "The Slider"

  • with my "les paul" i know i'm small, but i enjoy living anyay, live forever Marc...

  • marc bolan is the greatest most inovated rocker ever to hit this planet!!!!!

  • i wonder iff jhonny depp knows him because marc didint make it in america

  • I'm sure Mr. Depp is aware of Mr. Bolan. I do wish Depp would consider a flick before too long. Who knows who it's up to.

  • Are you my main man?

    Marc yes you are.

  • What a unique voice. My mom used to play this song all the time.

  • So, do you like him? and if so how high is he on your list of favorites.

  • I love this song. Probably in my top 10.

  • Let's put it this way: If they sent me away to spend my life alone on a deserted island and told me I could take a cd player and one artists collection...it would most likely be Marc Bolan's!

  • Hey i heard a remix album with a bunch of t-rex tracks is coming out in a cuple months has anyone heard of it?

  • I stand corrected. I found that info on the net, so someone wrote that wrong, eh? Anyway, thanks for letting me know and have a good week to all.

  • Yes,someone wrote wrong.Anyway 'Lady Stradust' was a tribute to Marc Bolan, but not for his death.

  • lady stardust was done 1st main man came after

  • This is a tribute to David Bowie. Then, Bowie did a tribute to Marc...after he was killed....Lady Stardust. So, so, sad. Loving you, Diamond Eyes. Peace in your spirit cuz so many of us love you here.

  • But 'Lady Stardust' is a song from 'The raise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'..the album came out in 1972-73..Marc died in '77. I'm afraid you are wrong.

  • Its on The Slider from 1972

  • Heaven is hot now ....with you there Marc..

  • he`s my favorite musician,.-next phil lynnot, both died long ago,.- i miss them.

thanks for their very fine music.

  • this song have made me cry more then few times......I love it...

  • I think this song's about David Bowie.

  • wrong

  • The pic of Marc and Ringo is one of my favs. The old guard documenting Beautiful Bolan.

  • I just cried now when I found this, thank you so much

  • I love you!

  • Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman provide the perfect foil to Marc's voice, as essential to the T. Rex sound as Visconti's serendipitous strings. Marc and the Turtles should sing together, you know what I mean, To hear them sing is something of a dream, Do you know what I mean?

  • I sure do.

  • song came out in 1972 the last song on the orignal slider

  • I have this song...great stuff

  • I can never tire of this song. Rock on slider.

  • tanx awesome

  • I love sticking songs on here that noone has, but i feel the clip are reruns... I dont know if ill do anymore... unless i learn how to to this better..

  • Keep doing what you love, slider. The vid is a great tribute to the main man!

  • Yeah, do your thing, thunderwing!
