Albee213 : The 1973 has the big five mile per hour safety bumper on the front. The big back bumper didn't come out until 1974. But in 1974, they changed the whole body entirely.
@mopardog94 Why would you put a lame ass 6.1 hemi (if you want to call it that) into a classic? Put the right motor in this car - the one it came with, or one from that era. Next thing you know this car will have a fucking gay ass wing on the back and 26" rims. Poser....
@mopardog94 It's cheaper to repair or rebuild the engine then to replace it with a Hemi, the 6.1 liter ones are harder to find then the 5.4s. If the original engine was a 383 or a 400 it can be built up with lots of power, if it has a 440 it will have more power then you will ever need once it's done, Summit racing has lots of cheap rebuild and rod parts for big block MoPars.
Hallo Boumat ik heb de zelfde wagen gekocht en ben met een dubbele uitlaat bezig wat heb je er voor een pijp en dempers er onder gemaakt geweldig geluid gr
I used to own a 1973 New Yorker that looked almost exactly like this, just the different front end. Loved that car! I also had a '70 that was in bad shape. TANKS.
The '72 New Yorker is prettier than the '73. !973 was the first year for the big front bumper. It was an ugly bumper they put on the front of the '73. The '72's didn't have a whole lot of horsepower. They lowered compression by either by putting in a short piston, or a short connecting rod. The pistons don't go all the way to the top of the cylinders.
This is a great looking car. It was also just one year shy of the heavy duty pollution controls on american sedans so it's way higher H.P. than the 73' Shame too. the 73' was a prettier lookin Chrysler, though this one is sharp too, I just always liked the front of the 73' better. But too many problems with the engines that year. 72, was a quick and solid as Chrysler ever was.
I had a '72 Newport, 4-door sedan with a 400 cid V-8; 2v carburetor. It got around 27 mpg. on the highway, and would fly. With a 22 gallon gas tank, it could go almost 600 miles. Reckon it would be a clunker today?
Damn I had a fully restored 1972 New Yorker when I was younger...Love that car...identical to the one in this video actually...now that brings back some memories.
We had one of those, got it from my grandfather. Unfortunately, he had to remove the posi-track, as it had problems.
The '72 was the most stylish of those biggest of New Yorkers, but the 71 and befores were more powerful, due to the detuning all cars in the US had to undergo as part of the phase out of leaded gasoline.
My Dad had a '72 New Yorker Brougham coupe that was a fully-loaded demonstrater. Was triple-white, high-back buckets (was the replacement for the 300) and I took it down a straight-away, floored it and watched as the speedometer pegged past 120 mph. I'm surprised these are not more coveted as there's nothing like it on the road today!
i won't go to the cinema. i won't buy expensive food, i'll stop drinking milk, coffee, beer. i'll use tea bags 2, 3 times, i'll steal the toilet paper, i'll turn down the heating in winter, i'll wear my shoes for 3 more years, i'll eat more veggies instead of meat, i'll cut my phone line, but i'd not give up a chrysler 72 w/fuselage design
Thank you, thank you! In fact, I had a '72 Impala 4door-Coupé (pilarless) and did exactly that, LOL. And also, may I adjust, that these cars are rolling pieces of Art. People who conserve these cars contribute more to Culture and Arts than many taxpayer-rentseeking artists. Just my nonconformist opinion on Culture.
How did the Import Process go? Did you have any major Problems? Was it easy to find a Shipping Company? Would be interested to know your experience. Cheers!
@Boumat Hallo Boumat ik heb de zelfde wagen gekocht en ben met een dubbele uitlaat bezig wat heb je er voor een pijp en dempers er onder gemaakt geweldig geluid gr
There will be a time when the 70:s fullsize cars will get the recognition they deserve. They are truly rolling art and everyone with the wisdom of cherishing them should be applauded! Remember, there was a time when people converted Duesenbergs into tow trucks...but some people knew better. I think I'll continue my search for another C-body...anyone have a reasonably priced 76-78 New Yorker to sell? BTW, love your car Boumat!
I have a '73 Dodge Monaco and just love how smooth and quiet that boat is. Gobs of power and quiet! The 400 big block has all the power I need and then some.
wow thats really a car of tomorrow. Look at those break lamps that travel almost the entire rear of the motor car. smart stlye for that clean, sophisticated look.
Dodge and Chrysler really knew how to make these big 4 door beasts from the 60s and early 70s look mean. I mean, their not just big metal boats with four doors. The chrome grilles, the subtle lines and curves and those big blocks made them stand out from an old geezer's LTD or some thug's beat up 80s Cadillac.
My father had a 1972 New Yorker, Triple black, with the Chrysler's "Cast Road Wheels", 400ci 4bbl....Brings back great memories...I was 6 when he got it...his first brand new car picked up from Star Chrysler/Plymouth/Imperial in Nashville. LOVE the sound of the engine/exhaust in the video....Remember my dad regularly pushing 85mph uphill on the mountains in SE Tennessee..no big deal with that car
Well, it's a beautiful car. When I was growing up we were a "Chrysler family". My project car is a 1979 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country station wagon. It doesn't look as good as your car thought.
i have this car a 72. duel glasspack exhaust ;) perfect condition make me a offer im in ohio

My buddy almost got thrown out of the house by his mother because he wanted to trade his Chevette for one like this--without a running engine!
Srd1126 6 months ago
@Srd1126 Not hard to make one run again, usually, and a much better made and better driving car then a Chevette, I would have gone for it myself.
