The bridges that were destroyed (2 near Tarrawarra, plus 6 of the 7 on the up side of Yarra Glen) were ones that had not been rebuilt, as yet, if I remember right. At least the Yarra Glen ones had not been repaired to a point at which they could take a train over them.

  • Maybe worth a try? With the old VR being converted to SG, and several preserved DERMS not able to afford the cost of rail access, I just wondered if the locals would use a service from Healsville to Ringwood? A DERM and trailer every hour during the peaks might be worth a try. Of course all the bridges and many sleepers would be needed and it is just this old mans dream. Good luck to the boys and girls of the Yarra Valley Railway!

  • @comtrain I would love the train to run again so I could take bike(s) on it, they don't allow bikes on buses. The video reminds me of the trips we used to do to Healesville, ride over Toolangi and back to Yarra Glen. I would like to see the railway operating again as I now live in Healesville, the trains are more efficient than buses.

  • Well I guess if the fire is past Healesville now, the model railway show is still on. Such a pity that all that hard work rebuilding those bridges has come to naught. If I remember rightly, PB got into similar trouble in the early days, and the Government grants, plus the Army bridge builders got them up and going again.

  • nice video, im burntruss from the screenshots forum :P
