  • LONG LIVE DISCO!!

  • During the disco imagination sequence two "adult" disco songs are played. Both instermentals versions the first is "The Greatest Dancer" by Sister Sledge but half way it segus into another tune. Does anyone know the later song???

  • @donmccullen The second song is called "Sesame Street Fever". FInd it on youtube by searching "Robin Gibb - Sesame Street Fever " (sorry that I can't link the video - tech troubles).

  • Dooo yoou think you and I could dance biiiird.....

    HAHA best clip ever!!!

  • I never even knew they made a disco versoin of Rubber Duckie, must've been only for the show. Big BIrd & Suffy are pretty good dancers. I remember this from a long time ago from the late 70's-early 80's. The Greatest Dancer was a good song for disco dancing.

  • My, Snuffy, what a big disco cocaine snorter you have.

  • I love this !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I got this actually on Vinyl the original Sesame Street Fever album at a garage sale 5 years ago.

  • Yeah, they can't go to the disco. They tried getting into Studio 54 but it didn't work.

  • Yes this record would be cool to have!!! ...Well, cd's theese days but still just as good. I am in my 30's and sytill want it. No, sorry kids sesame street isn't just for you any more. I'm sorry.

  • Funny! I like it at 2:01 when Big Bird starts dancing!

  • they took snuffy off thr show because he only came around when no grown ups were around n wen grown ups caem he'd leave n only big bird saw him then the kids were starting to see him n have relation ships n do stuff with him

  • ur a bit behind cuz eventually the grownups met him and bounded wtih him. u should of seen the episode when the grownups 1st met him. they were all in shock

  • song?

  • Rubber Duckie (Disco Mix)

  • The extended version of Sister Sledge's "He's the Greatest Dancer".

  • sesame street today sucks! the old skool sesame street was r the best by a long shot. if they were to still play it like it was back then, i'd still watch it and im 34 yrs old.

  • That is so true. I'm 31 yrs old and they just took the fun out of it.

  • theres no more shows like this anymore :( nothing will ever top this show :)

  • "Oh, they're playing our song, Bird!" AHAHA

  • I have been looking forever to find a clip on youtube were everybody on Seasame Street meets snuffy for the first time. Can't find it :-)

  • Bud, it's the very first clip that pops up if you search "sesame street snuffy"!! The video is called "Sesame Street - Snuffy Revealed", uploaded by NantoVision2!

    XD

  • Oh my God... I can't even BELIEVE my parents let me watch this shit as a kid. All this needs is a cameo from the Village People!

  • What do you do if you're in the "Snuffy" suit and you have to fart?? Do you just let if go and hope for the best?? Maybe the other person won't smell it!!! :^)

    I'm KIDDING!!!

  • your sick , leave snuffy alone muthafucker

  • This reminds me of The SOOUUULLL TRAAAAAIN!! ;)

  • Classic skit! For your own custom-built classic puppet characters click on VaultOfPuppets for or website link!

  • Badass.

I love Snuffy pushing the disco-ers right off the floor! That's what coke will do to ya, Snuff.

Anyone know the song @ 3:18? Was it a real song or a Raposo composed one made specially for ss?

  • It is part of the song Sesame Street Fever from the 1978 album Sesame Street Fever with Robin Gibb

  • The song thats playing is from the Sesame Street Disco Soundtrack. I got the song on my MP3 Files

  • go snuffy..so snuffy

  • snuffy is a gee.

  • Do you think Snuffy imagined bird doing some blow off the rail of the sink in the bathroom?

  • i like snuffy's hat

  • I remember when this came on the telly and I loved it! Even if it was only shown in 1985 in Australia. Since then I have loved 1970's disco music despite only being born during that era. What was I missing?? Bring it on!!

  • Come on Snuffy, you're a sexbomb!

    DANCE IT SNUFFY!

  • That record looked like it had an Enterprise label. This is a classic clip which should have been included on the SS Old School Vol. 2 DVD.

  • sod learning to read, write or add or we, the children had to do was learn to boogie..... heel yeah!!

  • disco

  • ANd before someone ask who is too young to remember this era, Will Smith did not create that song that used the sample. This is I believe: Chic - He's the greatest dancer

  • Sister Sledge, not Chic.

  • INTRODUCING THE KIDS TO DISCO. before there was the crap that's out now. I was born in the 70s and I will admit, THE BEST DAMN ERA! PERIOD! for all races and music of all catagories

  • snuffy<333

  • snuffys got the pimp hat on

  • Horrifying, hypnotizing, brilliant.

  • go snuffy! what a sexy mananthphant:P

  • ...Now I know all about disco!

  • oh my gosh this goes waaaaaaay back

  • A disco version of "Rubber DuckY"?

  • Yes; incidentally it was from the album "Sesame Street Fever"

  • Wow! Big Bird really loves his Disco!

  • This...RULES!!!

  • Who made that Disco remix of Rubber Duckie?

  • Joe Raposo and Dick Lieb did it. It was on the album "Sesame Street Fever".

  • They use to jam for real on Sesame Street. I would actually still watch this...as an adult...no lie...

Sesame Street now?? (In my Vancom Lady voice) Uh uh...

  • i would still watch it now too if they played it like it was back in the day. i feel bad for the kids who will never get to see how sesame street used to be. fun entertaining and at the same time, still learn something

  • I have to agree with you 100 %

  • Snuffy doesn't know what disco is? Has he been living in a cave? ;-)

  • er, he DOES live in a cave lol

  • Who thought up Disco anyway?

  • BIG BIRD! lol

  • LOL..

  • Big Bird and Snuffy gittin jiggy with it!

  • best video ever snuffys dancing is awesome! ahahahahahahah im gonna bust those moves next time i hit it up

  • I was very young, but I do vaguely remember this! Now I want to see Big Bird at a Rave!

  • I need a copy of that album. It would make an awesome party track!

  • This is the shit right here! I fuckin' love it!

    Disco & Sesame Street forever!

  • Wow...Sesame Street was a great show...Gangtsa!!!

  • win.

  • I preferred when everyone thought Snuffy was Big Bird's imaginary friend. Even though I use to feel sorry for Big Bird when no one believed that Snuffy was real...LOL

  • Yeah, but that made little kids go crazy.

    Me included.

  • Sesame Street started to go downhill at this point. They should have stuck with the pyschedelic stuff from the '60s/early '70s.

  • I think Elmo was the nail in the coffin.

  • Sesame Street Fever!

  • "Snuffy where have you been!?"

  • Cute!

  • wow what a classic! i remember this when i was a little girl.i was born in 1975 and i couldn't live without this show.i watched it 4 times a day!

  • Trippy!

  • GONE wit' yo' bad self!!! :)

    -MINESWEEP

  • hey! Snuffy's got a pimp hat on! Go Snuff!

  • Snuffy looks like he is high

  • That's normal for him. If he doesn't look like that, then he is high.

  • Uh...cute. I think. Actually Grover doing disco is my worst nightmare.

  • I had the 8track when I was a kid

  • I have the album. Sesame Street Fever was a muppet take from (everyone say it with me)

    Saturday Night Fever.

  • Praise god!!

  • this video saved my life

  • big bird is so off beat, i luv it.

  • And is it me, or does Big Bird have a perm in this video?

  • wow...big bird and snuffy are blazed off their asses

  • Funny how Big Bird bought his own record.... It's like cartoon characters humming their own theme songs.

  • Jerry Nelson's Snuffy sounds pretty cool

  • Love how Snuffy just bullied his way onto the dance floor. BTW How much did CTW have to pay in royalties to use "Greatest Dancer"?

  • LOL!!!

  • "He's The Greatest Dancer" is my fave Sister Sledge song! lol Hysterical! Thanks!

  • I think I saw this one when I was little. Disco--70s dance music.

  • This must be from late '79 or '80, because it was the time of the "Disco Sucks" backlash & "He's The Greatest Dancer" was discoin' it's way up the charts it the spring of '79. Being born in June of that year, I was on the cusp of disco & new-wave. Thanks for the memory.

  • Man...I loved this one roughly has to be 1978. Get that hat that Snuffy is wearing!

  • Whoa, Big Bird is brocking out! I bet there was never a Sesame Street rave episode though. They should have played Smart E's Sesame's Treet on Sesame Street.

  • Wow. I'm 40 now and "Sesame" as me and my sister called it was a big part of our growing up. Watching this makes me realize just how much sesame street was and still is a major part of popular culture...when I was a little, little girl I remember when my parents replaced our tiny little black and white tv with a big COLOR one. Sesame was on and I was bummed out that they unplugged my tv! Suddenly though it reappeared in true color much better than before.

  • Just like Disco...this is just... WRONG! ;-)

  • Snuffy is mad pimpin'!

  • COOL!Sesame Street has seen it all-the funky early years, the disco 70's and even hip hop and new wave in the 80's!

  • I remember this one! I had the Sesame Street Fever ALbum. I played it till the record was all sctatched up---I was only 8 years old when I had this record.

  • Don't laugh but I have that LP as well as Mickey Mouse Disco to this very date! Still great music after all these years!

  • wow, never seen this..also i hear they used the ultra rare roy thode 12" remix of "sesame street fever" in this scene..very cool!

  • I have the instrumental Sesame Street Disco LP, is that one one?

  • no thats not the one...the version there using in this was on a promo only 12" single and a VERY rare canadian only release of the disco remix versions (basicly..sesame fever for grown ups...no muppets)

  • are you referring to the Rubber Duckie track at the beginning and end of this? I'd like to know what the 2nd track at the disco is. The one after "He's The Greatest Dancer" ...it isn't the Ray Thode remix of "C Is For Cookie"

  • The second song was sampled in a rap song....

  • The second song

"He's the greatest dancer" is Sister Sledge from the late 70's or early 80's

  • isn't it funny how people don't know this music - they only know it in 'their' music which has been resampled by fairly bad rap artists!? :)

ps - it would look more realistic if Big Bird was doing poppers and the Snuf had a bit of cocaine on the end of his trunk. HEH!

  • What's the song after Sister Sledge called? I want to try and find that.

  • gettin' jiggy wit it is not a rap song

  • this video makes me think big bird was meant to be a girl, if you look at the way he on snuffy pattin him at the end....oddd

  • HAHA @ them using Sister Sledge and Snuffy's hat!!! LOLLERSKATES!

  • I've been trying to block all memory of the disco era, much like veterans block memories of Vietnam.

  • that girl needs a bra

  • Where can I get the Disco Rubber Ducky song?

  • On the Sesame Street Fever album - you can normally find it on eBay.

  • That was cool. I remember the early 90's episode when snuffy first learned to tap dance. Anybody have that clip to post?

  • I totally dig this clip.

  • Lights, and music, and people dancing...oh and don't forget the endless of supply of cocaine!

  • I bet Snuffy found a new use for his trunk at the disco!

  • Dude could you imagine the cost for Snuffy's habit?! (vacuum sound) "Oh BIRD I am BUZZIN now!"

  • hahahahahahahahahaha

  • No really! A human's cocaine habit is like $1000-2000 a day (probably higher then that. Snuffy's would have to be something like $50K! He'd have to snort up a yardline to get high! I also wouldn't want to see the bloody nose either.

  • Well, he has the 80s to look forward to... crack is a lot cheaper! :0

  • 1 to 2 grand a day??? youre not too keen on the subject arre ya. maybe a few hundred a day

  • Kooleos

  • Sesame Street Disco...man, I imagine people at the time saying, "Oh no, Sesame Street has sold out to Disco!" lol

  • Yup, you got that right! I was absolutely FURIOUS as a kid when Sesame Street started going disco. I did think the Sesame Street Fever album cover was hillarious, though.

  • Geez -- were ANY of my precious childhood memories not tainted by disco at one time or another?

  • Oh- what could be better? Give me love, give me liberty, disco! Right here on Sesame Street! :-) Love it!

  • I used to shout: "Snuffy, watch your head! That mirror ball is right there in front of you."

  • I remember that. and Sesame Street Fever was a kick. thank you.

  • I still have my copy of "Sesame Street Fever"!

  • God bless you for posting this! I hadn't seen this clip in years. Every time I hear "He's the Greatest Dancer," I think of this little scene. Hope you'll post more great ones from Sesame Street from the old school.

  • I recognize Sister Sledge "He's the Greatest Dancer" in there at the beginning of the disco scene! Love when Snuffy overtakes the dancefloor.

  • I've been waiting for this: it's my quinessential disco scene. Nice pimp hat, Snuffy!

  • I had that record!

  • I still have mine

  • me too! i think i still have it :D
