Hi - I am not to good with computers - I'm having trouble send - can you help - thanksing mail because my HP laptop G62 says my default mail client is not properly installed
I done this and all my drivers are fucked up, in device manager I dont even know if its displaying everything in my computer, Highly doubt it is, my usb ports dont work anymore, and my graphics card cant be read what happend is there a way to get the laptop to recognize that the devices changed :s anyone
I have an old dv100,the60 gig- hard drive is crashed, My question is: could I install a bigger hard drive with the right connector (sata or pata) ?? Would the computer recognize it?
It is after all,a good computer And I don't want to get rid of it
(plus it looks pretty nice when I run Unbuntu on it from the cd rom !)
Nice video, but I still have a problem with replacing the harddrive into my HP Pavilion dv9780
The metal case in my laptop doesn't have those two screws you mentioned in your video. There are only two holes in the metal case, in which no screws are in there as far as I can see . Do you have any idea how I might disengage the metal case?
Could you explain better as to how to put the recovery files onto your new HDD? I know my old HDD has a partition with the recovery files on it. Does this mean I should partition my new one as well? How do I do this without a OS?
Question: which hard drive would you upgrade/replace if you have 2 hard drives. one is the main drive C: the other is HP recovery D:. I have 2 panels with a 1 and a 2 on them and don't know which is the HP recovery as thats the one i'm upgrading. Thanks
Hi....its really helpful, my existing hard disk is corrupt so can u tell me is their any risk to replace hard disk at home? can i retrieve my data on my old existing hard disk which was corrupt?
Question for you. If i install a new HDD on my laptop, my old hdd would have the OS--the pre-installed OS that came with the laptop when i bought it. Once the new HDD is installed, can i use the disks that came with the laptop to reinstall the OS? or do i need to buy a full version of the OS for the HDD?
how much would a hardrive cost i dropped my hp the other nite and a clicking noise comes from the hardrive and it won't start up but when i remove the hardrive the noise stops i think i damgeded the disk inside or sumthing can you get back 2 me please! and i install a new hardrive will all my data still be on that laptop?
My hp dv 6000 won't power up, when I conect the ac adopter it shows the blue light but it won't power up. When I use another battery that it's charged up it comes on just fine but it won't recharge the battery. Can you please help me. Thank you
I know I m gonna sound stupid but sorry. Is there any specific hard disk for dv 5000 models or is it just any normal laptop harddisk which I buy? (dv 5052ea to be specific). I mean, please suggest/recommend me one (I am thinking for a maximum upgrade, so Is an upgrade to 500gigs possible?)
@cuttinedgedotnet but mine says its PATA which is in it. Will it even support SATA? Isn't this dv5052 that you are talking about? Or am I missing something?
I'll see if i have some time this weekend. If you contact and buy the RAM from your laptop manufacturer they should send you instructions. HP in particular are actually rather good at giving you instructions witht their RAM. However yes i will if i get the time.
Very Well Done. The only thing with my dv 5000 series, is that the existing hard drive was corrupt so that's why I needed to replace it. I used restore disks from a place on line, since HP no longer sells them for those unit.
It is an informative video for anyone who is unaware of installing a hard drive in a hp laptop. i hv a hp dv3z model, but still the process is more or less the same. Thanks for uploading.
im new to this .... if i install a 500gb harddisk into my compaq presario v3500 laptop ... when my laptop is dead will it affect the 500gb harddisk ? can i transfer it into a new laptop so everything installed inside remains?
Do you know or some one knows how to replace the hardrive on a hp pavilion xh136? the harddrive is not where most are, I think is under the keyboard and is giving me a hard time, great video !
Hi, does anybody knows how to send of those to argentina?, because the value here is of 700dls, it would be great someone could help me inport some, or some other notebook, or cel phone, because here, prices are extremly hi, and i know lots of people who would pay 600 dls for those.
So, if anyone knows how to send products to Argentina, pls mail me. nacho_seg@hot
No. If you're hard drive has not failed and windows loads up, you can create and burn the CD's with the software HP bundles. If you left it to late and can't even boot up windows, contact HP they may be able to send some CD's to you. If your not under warranty i believe there is a $20 fee for the CD's.
I've a HP Dv 2000 series and have been thinking of upgrading the HDD from 120g to 250g. I wiped Vista and run Linux Mint. I'm not certain if I'm running an IDE or SATA drive. Are they interchangeable? BTW great vid; gives me confidence to do it myself.
hello, i know this is a hard drive replacement but have you ever replaced the keybaord ? if you have i was wondering if you had issues when you have to push it forward and lift up ( i have dv5000) just wondering cant seem to find many people who have a dv5000
Hard drives do sometimes fail (or show signs that they may soon be failing) in wich case it will be neccesary to replace the drive in order to continue using the computer.
Also you may not be content with the amount of available space on the one you do. In wich case you can purchase a larger one to install.
If it is not faulty and large enough for you, there is no need to change.
Hp is going to send me a replacement Hard drive for my Dv7... the guy said its very easy and only takes 5 mins but... I dont know nothing about that kinda stuff ._. should i just do it my self or take to a local comp shop?
It is quite simple and easy. It can be intimidating if you have never done something like this before. Many people have said watching my video gives them confidence to do it themselve.
I would suggest you watch my video, and do as the instructions say. If your still not confident then by all means get a professional to do it. The choice is ultimately yours.
- A standard Phillips head screw driver (Flat head will work, just be careful not to bur the screws) - A clean workspace - A method of putting windows back onto your computer (Such as with the windows install disc) or if necessary getting your old files onto your new hard drive.
I have replaced the old hard drive with the new hp sent me.. now im just waiting for the cd which hp is going to send to me... the guy did say it will come 2 days after you get the hard drive
Hello, Tutorial is pretty straight forward I like it. I Hp laptop with Fujitsu hard drive for DV8000 model. I recently installed a second drive from Western it did not recognize it there was no assign letter when I check it. Plus Laptop hard drives now don't come with an installation software don't know why. So How do I solve this?
Are you sure the hard drive is the culprit? To often people think they no what the cause of there problems, simply because they decided that was the problem. Then after spending all the money find out that was not the cause of there troubles. Don't worry I'm guilty of that too.
Your local computer/technology/electronics store should stock them. If they do not (or you want a bargain) theirs always plenty on offer at ebay. I'v never baught one online any other way, but google should help you ther

4. Yes, keep the HDD safe in an antistatic bag and in a safe place, putting it back in will return things back to normal. A sort of safety fallback.
Sorry for the late reply. If you need any more help, please feel free to ask.

where to grab an antistatic bag? and do you think that if I hold the ground or soil, i am static free?

Usually all new hard drives come in one. If you don't have one you can try ebay or your nearest technology outlet. Ask at the counter.
