@1983platypus No they're not scalloped, but the strings are set relatively high off the fretboard so maybe I get away with more extreme bending than would be possible with super low action. I hadn't really thought about it.

Nice tones! :) The EH sounds great for a little box, and I love what you've done with the right channel guitar track. I have the same model of Vox myself, love the clean tones.
hey mate. just curious, i have trouble getting my holy grail to sound good (not overly wet and ambient, its not always appropriate). do you plug it in through the front, with an overdrive pedal before it? or through an fx loop?
@aektzis91 I run mine between guitar & amp input, not in the effects loop. I put the holy grail last as is usual with time/delay effects: my usual setup is wah > compressor>OD>dist.>chorus>delay>verb, which is pretty standard. On holy grail 'spring' I can go from almost no reverb to plenty. If there's built in verb on the amp, either it or the holy grail has to be completely off or the additive reverb is nuts. But try the holy grail in the effects loop to see how that works for you.
Most towns have at least one person in one of the musical instrument stores who has a blue book and/or just knows everything there is to know. Call around, find that person. You may also google the model name/number or just "danelectro guitar", you'll find forums where you can probably get guidance if you can post good photos and provide adequate description. Many will want it, don't get in a hurry and you can get top dollar. Good luck, and thanks for the nice comment!
I am trying to find out the best way to get an appraisal on an original danelectro w/the original case and amp. any idea the best ruite to doing so? thanks kelly, and that is beautiful! sounds AWESOME!!
@3FlyingFarts They're discontinued, have to keep an eye out for one in the used market. Don't be afraid to ask a craigslist seller if they'd be willing to ship, if you're lucky enough to catch one on craigslist somewhere.
The silver isn't super hot or super thick by any means, does a clean sound just fine. Keeps good note definition but drives a distortion pedal fine, and cleans up nicely with the volume knob on the guitar. A good balance of a lot of good features. I'm curious about how it would sound in the neck position but not curious enough to go to the trouble!
This guitar stays in tune very well for me but I rarely use the tremolo bar...I think newer models might have better tuning stability for heavy tremolo usage. The Strat Plus Tremsetter was a relatively early attempt at making something that will stay in tune, probably not the best you can get today. But I do love the locking tuners, makes changing strings easier than you could imagine. I love this guitar. Play on one hard for ten minutes to make sure it stays in tune well enough for you.
YOU SOUND LIKE JEFF BECK WHEN HE WORKED WITH ROD STEAWART IN THE LATE 60\S. Is it possible you could create a video and try playing a lick or two with a Ron wood type sound? I'd love to see what sort of guitar I'd need to achieve such a sound.Congrats on the enjoyable playing - very enjoyable listening experience
Well that's a huge compliment, thank you. In a forum somebody says "in '67 he was using a late 50's Les Paul with pafs, a Marshall Super Fuzz, a Vox Wah Wah (probably with the original Clyde McCoy circuit) and a couple of Marshall stacks." He's mainly a strat player though.
I've heard really great things about Laces. I have an MIM strat, and the pickups suck. I want new ones, and I currently don't know whether to go with the Laces, or some Texas Specials. Do you have a preference?
When I switch to the red Les Paul? The very first thing is the main riff from "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" by Ted Nugent I play just one time, but when the drums kick in it's "Riff Raff" by AC/DC (Powerage album). Just the first things that came into my head. I added the drums/bass after.
Thanks. The backing track is me: single hit drum samples that I strung together (kick drum is a secret found sound I recorded at home), warbly 'organ' sound is a guitar/wah with all the low end rolled off, rhythm guitar and bass is me too...see details on the instruments/amps by clicking "more info" in the description box in the upper right. The chord progression is "Stormy Monday," give or take. I appreciate your nice comments, to be compared in any way to Jeff Beck makes my day.
It's all improv. At :11 - :20 it's the G blues scale. :20-:33 is G major pentatonic or "country" scale (root, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th of the G major scale). In both cases lots of bending especially on the B string...bending F up to G on the blues scale, bending D up to E on the country scale. Then I go back to the blues scale for the "verse." When the chord progression goes jazzy like at 1:05 I just fiddle around the G major scale mainly.
The original vol knob got stripped out so I replaced it with the temperature knob off an old electric space heater as a temporary fix...about 10 years ago. It has a white clockwise arrow on it labeled "warmer"...
Actually I tend to bump it with the heel of my hand if I'm not careful but I've learned to manage that. I like it.
Have you ever been tempted to pick up an owl pellet, when no one's looking, put it in your pocket, take it home, & eat it with English or French mustard & a few herbs?
Hello mate, great playing and tones. Would you recommend the lace silver as a bridge pickup? Im looking for a new bridge pickup for my jaguar, i have hot golds just now, i love the neck but the high output bridge is way too dark, i want something just slightly fatter than the gold in the neck. Any advice appreciated.
I haven't compared various lace pu's on my own guitars but I did choose silver for this strat when I replaced a no-name humbucker that was in the bridge. Sweet tone, not too hot but drives fine when needed (on my Marshall 4303 demo at about 3:00 I switch to dirty channel). I usually dial down the tone on the guitar a little when swtiched to bridge only; on 2nd position I leave flat. To me that's a well balanced pickup. The other 2 pu's are lace sensor gold. I'm happy with this setup.
No, just find a guitar tech to do a set-up (neck/bridge adjustment to your taste for low, med, or high action with no buzzing). Should cost you about $30, you may have to do that once or twice per year depending on abuse. Or you can learn how to do it yourself, there are resoures online or somebody can teach you. Or search youtube.

Per Italian-English online dictionary, that's: "Guitarboy ain't bad but the tone is a little thin...maybe a nice Soldano or Marshall JCM 800 tube amp would be better:)"
Add &fmt=18 to end of the URL (web address), hit enter, for higher qality stereo playback--this amp is not thin. I usually CUT bottom at mixdown to carve space for bass/kick although I didn't do that for this demo. Soldano and Marshall are great amps though, see my youtube demo of my Marshall 4203. Grazie for the commento.

Hi , Im on the verge of getting a strat plus..
can you help me out here & give me your input on how well the instrument stays in tune after using the tremolo?
Im pretty sure the beck model & the plus model are the same guitar with minor changes in a contour heel & a name on the headstock
Id love to save around $600 & buy a plus opposed to the beck model.
Im with you though.I love Becks playing its the best in a live performance as far as my opinion..going to see him in april matter of fact.

The Strat Plus has an LSR Roller Nut, Locking Tuners and a Tremsetter.
So yes it should have VERY good Tuning Stability. :)
