@ggkill21 Japanese series often have themes for their names; some work better than others. Dragonball was a terrible offender, while Sailor Moon's family names were so-so. In MewMew, Ichigo is an actual name (meaning strawberry) and Mint is possible (though not Japanese), while Lettuce and Pudding are just ridiculous. (I don't know about Zakuro). I suspect purists complained about the "localized" Mew names anyways.

@poorpeon Fon Purin I could live with (don't know if it has more than the slightest similarity to "Pudding"), but "Lettuce" comes directly from "Retasu" spelled in kana. I don't know where you got "ratzau" from, unless you meant "retazu". Oddly enough, Wikipedia has both Minto and Retasu spelled in Hiragana instead of Katakana...

Note that Ichigo, Mint/Minto, Lettuce/Retasu, Berry, Kiche/Kisshu, Tart/Taruto, and Pie/Pai all appear to refer to food.
