Cool tune and clip. I caught this tour in Greenville, SC and Dio (and Goldy) were spot-on that night. A great, great show! Very cool-thanks for posting. The comment about Jack Black and Dio is just ludicrous.

This is one of those songs I'll still be head banging to when I'm 90! Love Vinny's drumming...especially his use of the ride and snare. If you listen closely on the album he does a crazy snare fill at 2:06. He definitely has a unique style
Jimmies mike is all the way up, he is simply eclipsed by the master, no matter how hard he sings, by the way, craig goldy kills vivian here makes him look like a student. Vivian is dios best studio guitarist, worst live.
Hear, hear. I've seen Viv with Dio, Whitesnake, Riverdogs and Def Leppard. He sounded GREAT with the Riverdogs, but that's the only time he did. Plus, he's not a very nice guy. I met him in Sacramento after a Whitesnake and again after a Riverdogs show and he was kind of a dick. by contrast, Doug Aldridge was really, cool. I met him in Germany. Very nice guy.
dude really? viv is by far the rawest metal guitaris that ever played with Dio in my opinion. Goldie is kind of boring and unemotional about his playing or maybe he just lacks that natual spark to be a little more tha just good. Aldrich is a monster and there again goldie falls short in comparison.
I disagree. I think Vivian had killer licks and total control and use of the scales plus his amazing hammer on/pull offs. And his riff/compossing skill were much better than Craig's, as time has proved
Again, Viv sounds great in the studio, not so great live. Yeah, Goldy is sort of mechanical and choppy, but he's pretty cool. So is his wife and kids who all came to see the show. I met him and the rest of Dio on Copenhagen back in June. Doug Aldridge was there to visit and, once again, he is the absolutely nicest guy. Back to Viv, I just bought his album, 'Two Sides of If'... lame, lame, lame. I played it once and shelved it. His work with Riverdogs is his best, I think.
@angelpriest Thats a rubbish comment really. As time has proved? Vivian has fallen into a slum of mediocrity in def leppard. He is a shadow of his former self. Yeah, he might earn more, but he's lost the respect of millions of guitar players. Goldy is still ripping and shredding. Not as fast as before, but he's still pretty good.
@skezza It's not a rubbish comment. Viv is musically dead many years now in Leps, but his music in Dio has became legendary. Craig is good but Viv had the groove and the superb technique and composing abilities. His records with DIo are classics. Check out in youtube, so many guys try to play his solos from Dio songs...noone will try Craig's...- Doug Aldrich and Rowan were so great also
@angelpriest Well, while I agree Vivs work with Dio was legendary, he has definitely lost his way. Goldy is a great player and a lot of people try and cover his solos. I think each to their own, but I respect both players about equal. I just feel sorry for Vivian and his slum into mediocrity and shiteness.
@skezza - He has chosen his path. He doesn't want to play good music anymore. Otherwise, he could form a project. Too bad for the metal scene to lose such a great guitar player.

Okay. I've been to about a dozen Dio shows starting back in 1985. Is Jimmy's mike EVER on?!?!?! I've never actually heard him sing backup.

I think so, the work that viv did on the last in line album was incredible.

Have you listened to Dio's Magica album? My opinion is that Goldie is light years in front of Vivian in terms phrasing his solos.
