  • 0:42 ghost opens door xDD

  • @HomeRushable holy shit...you're right

  • Hi so u Dominion? thats cool my group fights with them and we know iron wolf really well

  • DAP makes hundreds of glue products, including three kinds of contact cement. It is not clear which contact cement is used in this video.

The blue foam is used by campers, and is camping stores, and departments.

  • 7:13

    JAILBREAK!

  • Thank you, it's nice to see it all laid out, instead of guessing through it.

  • After going from a strap on shield to a punch shield, any suggestions on fighting style that would need to be changed? (sword length being short or long, size of the shield for the size of a person, 5'9'' if it helps, ect ect)

  • theres a GHOST his door opened..

  • I am brand new to this whole thing so I have no clue what dap is. Is it just some kind of heavy adhesive? Also, sweet video been trying to look for how to make a good shield for the past couple of days.

  • Sucidal um that would be complicated using this kind of shield this is a more basic simple design

  • could you make a curve in the shield like a roman shields???

  • :45 GHOSTS!

  • In my group there is a dude who uses a shield that is like 9 ft tall and 5-6 ft wide. He has a 1-2 foot perimeter hole in the middle so he can stick a weapon through and swing it around. Totally unfair but legal in my group apparrently.....

  • @BucketofThrowup just run up and body check him.

  • @BucketofThrowup that is just stupid i would just get a group of people to like and all just smash him and hit him

  • You look a lot like David Cross!!!! The comedian from Mr show

  • dude, a bunch of ghost just went into yr house :D

  • wtf? Just use plywood. Wayyyy cheaper and not much heavier. If you're set on a punch shield, use plexiboard. Even lighter, but difficult to find. That blue stuff isn't cheap.

  • @xKeeganxxx Where do you get youre plywood? From lowes or menards here I live its 3 to 4 times more than one roll of camp pad (blue stuff)

  • @xKeeganxxx yes it is! $6 a roll at walmart is fairly cheap.

  • how do you make designs on the shield cover

  • The size of the shield depends on the fighting style.

  • "scissors are somewhat helpful; not really, though..." LOL

  • Dude your house is haunted.

  • Would you advise using a spray adhesive or will that be problematic?

  • Is five layers of blues foam essential? I am building a sheild simular to the first sheild held up.

  • Izad made a photo tutorial using the same method. The only thing I would add to his tutorial is to make the PVC longer. The PVC core should run the length of the shield minus about 4 inches.

  • @lurxlifeson

you can get the blue foam at WalMart in the Sporting Goods Department. Its Ozark Trails Camping Pad. And they have 2 kinds. You want the light blue, not the blueish/green with the egg carton shape. That stuff doesnt work well for this.

  • where do you get blue foam? I can't find it ANYWHERE so i've resorted to pvc pipe insulation lol

  • how strong is a shield like this against shield kicks though...i have a strap with a wooden core but id like a punch...i wonder if it holds well against kicks because our field kicks very hard lol

  • @JTP720 i doubt it would hold up very well, but for sheild on sheild its good, once you see a kick though your first instinct should be to swipe the foot with your sword anyway

  • @icebombers

make one, he just showed you how.

  • this is Izad from Maethodoron

Grumio, what realm are you in? I made a text based version of this tutorial along with still photos of the process when i made mine and i need to credit you for it in my forum post in the tutorial. Or i can just use your Dag name. Up to you.

  • @Frozenflamei Well I didn't come up with this design for this shield but if you want to credit me for this tutorial... I fight in Dominion of the Unconquered Sun and my unit is Militia. Post a link to your tutorial here and I will add it to the video or maybe put in it in the comments. It often helps to see things explained by different people or in different ways.

  • where can i get a sheild?

    leave a comment please

  • Any 1 know of a site to get involved into this type of stuf to find a local grp ive been searching no luck sm1 any 1 plz reply!

  • @RogueGetUEveryTime

Try this group, their much better and more down to earth reality based. For an idea of what they do- Youtube search: Pensic (or) SCA. And the website for them is SCA(.)org

  • @RickmanSlickman

Yeah, SCA is not any more or less realistic than Dagorhir. Not the fighting at least.

  • @IggyZadr

then you have no idea what SCA is. Im not downing this because i have done this before as well. But SCA use only real armor, and pvc pipe/rattan wepons, so the fighting is fare mor realistic.

  • @RickmanSlickman

I am well aware of what SCA is. I'm not sure how long you've been fighting SCA, but a lot of the technique in SCA and Dagorhir is very similar. The required use of armor is not something that would make SCA more "realistic," it would be the fighting styles and techniques. The real difference between SCA and Dagorhir is the fact that instead of fully padding ourselves (armor) we pad our weapons. Our weapons do still consist of PVC or fiberglass.

  • @RogueGetUEveryTime

This particular group is called Dagorhir

  • so where do you get the cover for the shield?

  • most people sew their own.

  • How long are you supposed to let the dap dry for before applying.

  • It should be dry and tacky before you press both sides together. Also, you must dap both sides.

  • lock at that door thats frekey

  • is that avalible for LARP?

  • yes

  • The foam makes a run for it! :D

Thanks for the davice, I think my next step will be to make something like this, havent made a shield as yet. i wasnt sure whether usung a wooden or plastic core would be allowed. since i saw how strudy yours was however i now actually believe the foam is strong enough. thanks!

  • I make them. I just start out with a large circle of fabric. Make sure its large enough to cover the front, sides, and about 4 inches on the back.

    - cut out circle

    - sew hem (optional, it keeps fabric from fraying)

    - fold over about 1 inch of fabric from around the corner and sew it all along the circle. This creates a channel to put elastic in.

    - insert elastic (or draw string)

    - sew elastic

    - if that didn't make sense ask ma.

  • Where did you buy your covers for your shields? Or if you made them yourself, could you maybe provide a quick procedure?

  • how many blue mats did u need for this

  • I used two full rolls plus some scrap I had. So if your starting fresh, three rolls.

  • i got myself a spear and am workin on it. it about 7 feet. i used pvc as a core. is there a way to make the pvc not so flimsy?

  • First off, don't use pvc :P. Bandshoppe poles are the way to go, just google bandshoppe or check out spear fighting 101.

To make your spear flex less you can try putting a fiberglass rod into the core. You have to add tape to the fiberglass rod to make it the same diameter as the inside of the spear. Many moons ago I had the same problem and used two fiberglass rods from tractor supply (electric fence rods) and it worked alright.

  • thx alot..im not gonna be a spear fighter but i think someone in my group will prbly want to so i was lookin for tips

  • Oh my Gosh the door opened by it self!!

  • Next part should be out in a few days. I didn't post this on the dag boards yet because it really wasn't ready.

  • Hey! I've been in dag 8 years... haven't had to use gorilla glue yet... but then again, I've never built a foam punch shield... sooo... touche

  • Where can the next part be found?

  • Havent seen you in ages.

  • I've been looking for help on this for awhile. Thank you very much. It's a real help to everyone down here, who are just forming into a Dag group.
